Description

The space

Less than 1 mile from the Elwha beach and 9 miles outside of downtown Port Angeles, this home is just the place to come relax, explore & enjoy all that is around you! You can spread out on the patio, get cozy in the house, go for a hike, surf (you can hear the break from the house!) and so much more! Built in 2006, we have incorporated natural fir throughout the house that were harvested from the property and milled on-site, making this a unique home. The large kitchen space provides ample elbow room for the entire family, and is fully equipped with a duel fuel gas range/oven, microwave, and plenty of counter space. The master bedroom has a nice view of the Olympic Mountains. The other two guest rooms (one with a full and one with a queen bed) share a bathroom with dual sinks and a bathtub/shower. The finished basement serves as a fourth bedroom. We are on a four acre lot off of a private road, so there is plenty of privacy.

Guest access

All spaces in and around the home are yours to enjoy! The garden (when in bloom) is yours to wander & pick any veggies or flowers! You've also got: outdoor gas grill, plenty of parking-including room for an RV or boat trailer, firewood for fire pit, and a large patio area!

Interaction with guests

I am also here to help with anything you may need! I live on the property, about 150 feet away on the east side of the garden. I have lived and worked in the outdoors on the Olympic Peninsula for over 15 years. As a field biologist, I will gladly offer insights into the largest salmon restoration project in history- the removal of two dams on the Elwha River. I can also connect you with local fishing, rafting, and kayaking guides.

The neighbourhood

We are in a homeowners association on a private road on a four acre lot. Your neighbors are the trees!

Other things to note

Fisherman (and fisherwoman!) we are only 15 minutes from the boat launch on Ediz Hook. The mouth of the Elwha river and newly formed beach are minutes away and a great spot for surfing. We are 15 minutes away from Salt Creek and Crescent Beach which is also great for surfing and exploring tide pools. We are only 2 miles away from the Olympic Adventure Route trailhead, which is great for hiking, mountain biking, even horseback riding! Pop into town and hop on board of the MV Coho for a day trip to Victoria British Columbia! I am also here to help with anything you may need. If you love to cook, then you'll love the kitchen and outdoor grill.

A great place with a caring host. A great location if you are looking for a base to explore all the delights of the Olympic area. A really family friendly retreat - in my son's words; "can we live here dad". Five stars from us.

If you want to experience the Olympia National Park this was an excellent starting point. We learned so much about the area from James and have grown to appreciate and admire the Elwha River and all it contributes to the area. This home was beyond good it was was very special and beautiful. It location was great for getting to Port Angeles for stores and restaurants and it was pretty close to getting into the park through Rte 101. The area is a great destination and James' home became a central hub for us. Comfortable and clean this place will make you feel like you are staying in luxury. Thanks for all your wisdom and knowledge on the area! A friendly family and good digs --- doesn't get much better! Gayle Ernie and Cacey!

Perfect for two families and great location to hit the northern piece of Olympic National Park. Close to the beach, and having James provide some context to the dam removal and restoration project was fascinating. We had decent weather so the fire pit was perfect for s'mores each night.

James User ProfileJames is a superhost.

I love to meet new people, and spend time having fun and being active outside with my two children. I enjoy fishing, snorkeling rivers, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, water skiing, and snow skiing. I've been a fisheries field technician off and on for the past 16 years, and hold a M.S. from University of Washington.
