Description

The space

The cabin is an open floor plan, with a queen bed, dining room table with 3 chairs, 2 reading chairs, a free standing fireplace in addition to electric heat, dresser, 2 bar stools for the bar, small fridge, fully furnished kitchen and a fall custom shower.

Guest access

You will be staying in the original front section of the structure, which is completely separated from the newer back area. We keep this space for ourselves and visit from the front range on occasion.

Interaction with guests

Guests will have complete privacy. We have a property manager in town who is available for any of your questions or assistance.

The neighbourhood

The cabin is just at the edge of the historic downtown. Walk to the general store for fishing supplies, alcohol or soft serve. You can have dinner or drinks at the Twin Lakes Lodge in the summer, or enjoy your seclusion at the cabin.

Other things to note

The snow is plowed right up to our drive, however in the event of a heavy snowfall you will either need a 4 wheel drive or will need to walk about 100 feet to the front door.

We were looking for a very secluded get away in the mountains to afford us ample opportunities for hiking during our stay and Walter and Jessica's place hit the mark. The cabin was perfect – right at the base of the mountains, clean, well organized, rustic and quaint. Communication throughout the process was excellent and check in/check out was a breeze. We will definitely like to stay here again the next time we are in this beautiful part of the Rockies.

We had a wonderful stay at Jessica and Walters cabin! The surrounding area was beautiful with several different hiking trails. The town of twin lakes was empty during our stay (Mid March), but offered a quiet and peaceful retreat with Leadville and Buena Vista a short drive away. We also skied at ski cooper which was right past Leadville and a great mountain that wasn't too crowded!

The cabin was cozy and well set up. The kitchen was tiny but actually easy to use and we enjoyed playing Rummikub. Since it was the off season, it felt like we had all of Twin Lakes to ourselves which was great. If you choose to stay during the off season like we did, bringing what you need with you is a great idea, cause the closest open store is either Buena Vista or Leadville: not terribly far, but a bit of a jaunt for a six pack.

Beautiful location and sweet cabin made for a great overnight and respite from winter mountain activities. Walter and Jessica were available for any questions and very helpful with suggestions during the stay. Their dedication to making the cabin a quaint and comfortable stay is apparent, and the space is perfect for resetting busy lives with a quiet mountain stay. Glad we found this lovely retreat!

We are both artists, in stone and metal. We love to travel almost as much as we love to be home making things. We have a trusty border collie named Ripley and a middle school aged son named Leo. We're active and social yet appreciate our privacy and down time. We're hope to make your stay the best possible, so let us know how e can help!
