My family's second stay at The Nest went wonderfully as we've grown used to from our previous stay. The apartment was very clean and spacious enough for the four of us to sleep and hang out comfortably. The kitchen had foods, such as bread, milk and yogurt, to name a few, that Chris and Diane had bought catering to our preferences. The kitchen also had more than enough utensils for mom to cook all her, and our, favorite dishes. Chris and Diane were always there to help with anything we needed and they even invited us all over for some delicious peach and blueberry pie before we left. As always, we can't wait to be back in Ithaca to enjoy Chris and Diane's lovely hospitality.

I highly recommend "The Nest." It is located in a residential, quiet area that is a convenient drive to stores, restaurants, and Cornell University. Public transportation is also available. Chris and Diane provide guests many special amenities and are very hospitable.

My mom, my brother and I stayed in 'The Nest' for about 2 weeks. When we first arrived, we were greeted by Chris and Diane and they proceeded to show us around the apartment as they explained in great detail where everything was and how it worked. The kitchen was stocked with fresh milk, eggs, yoghurt, oatmeal, cereal, bread and other foods one would expect to find in one's own kitchen. There was also no shortage of chocolate as Chris and Diane always kept the jars full. A feat in itself seeing as to how quickly they were beng consumed. The convenient location of the apartment right across from Chris and Diane's own home allowed us on more than one occassion to borrow extra cooking utensils which they were always more than happy to share. This also made it easier to reach them to ask any questions or simply to chat. Worth noting is how clean the apartment was and how easy it was to adjust and maintain appropriate temperatures in all rooms. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay. We will be staying there again soon and we can't wait.

My family stayed at The Nest for gradation weekend at Cornell and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect place for them to end the night, just a short drive from campus but very quiet and relaxed. Though our days were busy and we didn't have much time to simply enjoy the space, it was very cozy and they felt right at home. The Nest was much larger than I had anticipated, and we had no trouble fitting three guests comfortably between the bedroom and the futon in the living room. My mother also enjoyed unwinding at the end of the day working through one of the puzzles kept in the living room area. We definitely recommend for anyone looking for housing near Cornell or IC, or just looking for a calm and quiet trip to the area.

Diane and Chris were excellent hosts. There were many niceties--special soaps, puzzle table, desk with printer, iron, candies, ice maker, Keurig coffeemaker, special coffees and teas, well equipped kitchen, wonderful bathroom, excellent TV and sound bar, Internet, beautifully decorated. The location was perfect for my needs.

The Nest was a wonderful place to stay while we were visiting Ithaca. It's situated on a quiet road and was very peaceful. Of the four airbnb places I've stayed, this place was by far the nicest as for kitchen, bath, beds, entertainment (TV, games, radio), appliances, and cleanliness. It exceeded my expectation. Because we spent as much time in Ithaca as possible on our short visit, we were not able to meet the owners. I'll save that for the next visit, if I'm fortunate to get a reservation.

Response from Diane And Chris:
Thank you, John! We appreciate your review because our goal for the Nest is to have a 4-star hotel-quality experience in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and amenities, but in a cozy, homey environment. I hope we are able to meet you in person next time!

Diane And Chris User ProfileDiane And Chris is a superhost.

Diane is married to Chris, a lifelong resident of Ithaca, New York. Diane has lived here since 1987. We both enjoy birds and birding, but Chris is the expert in this field, relying especially on his knowledge of birds calls and songs to find and identify birds. We both work at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where Diane is a design director, and Chris works for the Bioacoustics Research Program, building and deploying autonomous underwater recording units.

We like indoor cats, craft beers, good wine, birding, and playing dominos. As hosts, we love the Finger Lakes and are happy to help you find good restaurants and interesting and fun things to do while you are here. We'll give you your space, but we will also be available if you have questions or need assistance. As guests, we will enjoy meeting you and learning about the places and things to do that only locals know about. We especially like natural areas, local restaurants that specialize in regional food, and stores that feature local and handmade items.
