Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Pen-y-Bryn (top of the hill in Welsh) Cottage is about a mile above the village of St. George. Bursting with character, it's log burner, exposed beams, shuttered windows and enclosed garden make it the perfect country retreat.

The space
Surrounded by open fields and woodland and accessed up a private driveway, this two-bedroomed cottage really is your ideal getaway destination. Sleeping four people in one superking bed and one twin room, it boasts two bathrooms and an extra loo ("Ty Bach" or "the small house" in Welsh) in one of the outbuildings.

The well-equipped kitchen looks out across pasture fields and has a dishwasher, built-in oven and hobs and a fridge, as well as all the essentials like a toaster, kettle and food processor to make sure that you can make the most of your visit. There is also a door into the enclosed courtyard, perfect for breakfast around the cafe-style painted table (weather permitting, of course!).

The sitting room looks out onto the enclosed garden and has everything that you would expect - 48" flatscreen digital television, DVD player (there is a selection of DVDs from childrens TV box-sets through to classic movies for you to use), log burner (we'll even provide the logs) and board games. If the walking, hiking, cycling and beautiful beaches of North Wales don't tempt you away, you can happily spend your entire stay ensconced in the deep, comfortable sofa and armchairs here.

The dining room seats six (perfect if you have friends nearby to invite for supper) around the refurbished pine table. With a sideboard, candles, placemats and napkins, it is just what is needed for either a cosy family supper or a lavish dinner to cap off your holiday.

Outside, the garden is equipped with a large decking area complete with a table seating six. Entirely enclosed, you can let your dogs and children run riot without worry. A BBQ is also available for when the wonderful Welsh sunshine makes al fresco lunches a must.

The outbuldings contain a washing machine, hooks for wet coats and hats, space to lock your bikes away, a log store and "Ty Bach" (see above).

Guest access
The whole cottage and outbuildings are here for you to enjoy. The only visitors you'll have are the local fallow deer who you may see in the fields outside your bedroom windows. Although the private drive to the cottage is perfectly navigable by most cars, you may need to leave your low-slung sports car at the bottom.

Neighbourhood highlights

The nearest village is St. George, about a mile away down a steep hill. A car is a must as the nearest shop is in Abergele or Bodelwyddan, both about three miles from the cottage. St. George has the award-winning Kinmel Arms as its local pub and is ideal for a quiet pint after a walk or a stunning three-course dinner. Otherwise, your neighbours are the flora and fauna - Pen-y-Bryn really is the secluded cottage it says on the tin.

Snowdonia National Park is about 15 miles away and the glorious beaches of Pensarn, Kinmel Bay and Rhyl are a stone's throw at just five miles from the cottage.
