Of the four places we stayed on the Big Island, this was the most luxurious by far. And it's hard to imagine a better place to stay in Volcano Village. Just a 3-minute drive to the VNP entrance (we timed it), and a few minutes' walk to the few eateries/stores in the village, which are modest (Thai Thai, Lava Rock Cafe) but they do the trick. The expansive, spotless house has a HUGE landscaped front yard, with a wide front lanai, where it's relaxing to enjoy the view with your morning coffee or evening wine. I especially liked the comfy, firm king bed in the quiet master suite, ideal for snuggling under the puffy covers on the blessedly cool Volcano nights (4,000 feet elevation). The big kitchen was great for cooking and the back lanai looked over a beautiful tropical garden. Plus, great to have a washer/dryer. If you go out on foot at night you will need a flashlight, but there isn't much traffic and it's very safe. The rental included such extras as shampoo, detergent, condiments, wood for the wood-burning stove (which we didn't use), etc., so it was easy to buy some groceries and quickly settle in. (Note: The local grocery store was adequate for basics but not full-service, so if you need specific items, pick them up in advance in Hilo or Pahoa.) We never met Jeff but access with a key code was very easy. In short, if we ever return to Volcano we would definitely stay here again.
