About this listing

1 Br. with queen-sized bed, full closet, armoire, and full bath. Located in the up-and-coming Freret St. area of Uptown. Great for Mardi Gras and Jazz fest, minutes from the St Charles Parade Route, short drive to French Quarter and Fair Grounds.

The space

Home to a local New Orleans musician, it's a spacious, renovated 100-year-old, classic "Double-Shotgun" style home. The tall ceilings, original hardwood floors and French shutters give it a cozy and authentic look and feel. It's an upstairs apartment with a beautiful front porch, great for sunsets especially in the spring and summer months!

*NOTE* The front door is a bit old! Please be sure to pull it towards you when unlocking it from the outside. Thanks!

Guest access

Guests will have access to the front bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen and family room, front and back porch and backyard.

Interaction with guests

Provided I'm not out on a gig, teaching, or rehearsing I'd be happy to show the guests around town, or advise them on the best, venues, restaurants, museums and other attractions.

Other things to note

I do occasionally have afternoon rehearsals in the studio portion of the house. These times are flexible and negotiable but the music is certainly fun to hear!

The front door is a bit old! Please be sure to pull it towards you when unlocking it from the outside. Thanks!

My girlfriend, Jennilee, and I have a very friendly pitbull named, Hanna. She loooooves meeting new people and is super easy going and playful. However, she can be territorial towards other animals. So if you're not a dog person or are intending to bring your pet, it's no problem at all, she can stay at Jennilee's.

Please let us know in advance if you intend to bring your pet. We love meeting new animal friends, too.

I expect my guests to respect that it is a shared space. Their bedroom and bath are private and I will also respect their need for privacy. I expect them to keep the space clean and tidy and leave it in the condition it was when they arrived (although they don't have to make the bed they day they leave, I'm going to strip the bed that day anyways). Guests are to vacate the bedroom/bathroom by noon the day they leave so that I can prepare the room for subsequent guests. They are however welcome to relax in the common areas if they are, for example, waiting for a flight. Feel free to ask me anything, I'm a friendly guy. I love meeting new people and helping them out!

Aaron's place was great for a weekend getaway! Aaron was out of town, but we met his roommate who was a welcoming host. The room is comfortable and has a private bathroom right outside the door. We were really only there to sleep, and the bed was very comfortable.

Aaron's place worked out perfectly for us. The room was comfy, as advertised. We appreciated how laid back Aaron was and that he periodically sent a text to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. It was nice to be staying away from the hustle and bustle of the French quarter and still be a short uber ride away from most of our planned activities. It was nice to be walking distance from Freret St. where there are some coffee shops and restaurants.

Absolutely great place to stay! Super quiet neighborhood, incredibly comfortable room, and beautiful apartment. I didn't get to actually meet Aaron, but he was very accommodating and communicative. Super easy to get a cheap Uber to the French Quarter, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Definitely a great place; we'll be back!

The bath was not en suite, but it is forth even exclusive use of the guests and is just outside the bedroom door. Aaron was barely home and only slept there one of the four nights we were there.

This was my first time doing Air bnb and I really enjoyed it! Things you should know about this place: it is not in the middle of everything, and that's the point! It has a modest neighborhood vibe where people relax on their porches and talk, and gives you a place to come home away from it all at night and be around actual New Orleans residents (not just other tourists). 10-15 min walk to St. Charles Street/Garden District area, 15-20 min uber ride ($8-10) to the french quarter, 30-40 min ride to the airport ($30-$35). I would not recommend relying on public trans, buses came every hour and a half and not on time. The house itself is really cool! Always felt cool and comfortable temperature wise, bed and pillows were super comfy (slept really well), and Aaron gave me full use of the kitchen and a shelf in the fridge. He even lets you use his TV and watch Netflix! He was also very respectful of my space as a guest. Gotta give a shout out to Aaron who is an amazing host. Truly a warm and inviting person who is genuinely interested in you and how you're doing on your trip. He gave me kick ass food recommendations, poured me a glass of his home brew beer, taught me a little bit about drumming, and even invited me to go on a walk with his dog (who is a total sweetheart!). Since I was traveling alone, it was those little conversations and interactions that really made me feel like I was a welcome guest and not just some stranger hanging out in his second bedroom haha. Bottome line: I DEFINITELY recommend staying here. For me, I felt more at home than I do at my own home in Chicago, which is kind of an amazing and beautiful thing to feel when you travel.
