Charming stone-built cottage in two acres of beautiful gardens and surrounded by countryside. Large, open-plan living room/kitchen, two spacious bedrooms, bathroom, TV and Wi-Fi. One mile from a village, with a bakery, shop, bars and restaurants.

The space

Perfect for families or couples looking for a quiet rural retreat, or house hunting in the area, the cottage is set in two acres of gardens and surrounded by farmland and woodland. It has a sunny, open-plan living/dining room and kitchen, with lovely countryside views, a log fire burner and comfortable sofas. The well-equipped modern kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave and large oven. There is also freeview English TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms with exposed stone walls and beams. One has a king size bed and the other has a double bed and a single bed. Both have wall heaters. The modern bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a heated bath rail. Bedrooms have black out blinds and room for cots.

There is an indoor games room, in a converted barn, with table tennis, pool, and punch bag, which guests are welcome to use. It also has a DVD and book library. It's next to the pool area (only open in the summer months), which has a large decked sun terrace, south facing, and lovely views across the surrounding fields and woodland.

There is a laundry room opposite the cottage with a washing machine. Rotary dryers and clothes horses are available.

The cottage is surrounded by other stone properties and old farm buildings, including a gorgeous barn, a well and a traditional bread oven. Once a farmstead, some of the buildings have been lovingly converted into gite accommodation, rented out in the summer months.

Fully insulated, and with a cosy log fire burner in a restored Breton fireplace, and Wi-Fi, this cottage is ideal for long term rentals in the winter months.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the whole property and also to an indoor games room, with table tennis, pool table, punch bag and fitness/yoga mats. There are two other cottages on the site which are rented out in the spring and summer. This cottage is insulated for winter lets.

Interaction with guests

The owners live on site some of the time in a separate property on the other side of some farm buildings. A journalist and photographer, originally from Brighton, they have lived in Brittany for 6 years and have extensively explored the region. They can provide lots of useful detailed information about what to see and do in the local area.

Our first trip to Bretagne has been a wonderful experience, thanks to the surprising sunny weather in November and the Gîte in Guebernez we called home for a few days. It's well situated if you want some quiet time off in the countryside. We slept like babies. It's actually set for people with kids but as a party of two we didn't mind having the extra room and facilities :) Our little comfy house was part of an old farmhouse together with other houses on an estate. Because it was low season we were the only people around so we literally had the whole place for ourselves which was nice because it provided us privacy and solitude. Unfortunately for us the hosts were not present because of the holidays but everything was well managed by mail and we had help from some of their friends who came around when needed and to look after the place when they are not at home. Apart from that we were fortunate to have the company of two lovely cats who live on the farm. The kitchen is well equipped. Another feature is the fireplace for colder evenings which gladly for us were few. Bev and Warren think eco-friendly so be aware to adapt yourself a bit because all the plumbing is attached to self cleaning septic tanks but they provide the necessary information were needed. A real bummer for us was the fact that Brittany is larger than expected and a lot of the traveling has to be done on small roads by car so we had to change our initial plans. Luckily for us Bev and Warren made sure we had some alternatives in the neighborhood which are worth visiting and fitted well to our needs to spend some time in nature and to relax. A downside of going to Brittany during low season and especially autumn leave is the fact that many shops, restaurants and bistro's are closed for the holidays or are just open during lunch or they change their opening hours without further notice. We had problems adapting to the local rhythm but in the end we got the hang of it and had a nice dinner at a cosy place run by friends of Bev and Warren in Guémené-sur-Scorff.

Response from Bev:
Hi Ann and Phil. Many thanks for your lovely comments. I hope you get the chance to come back again in the spring or summer when more local places are open, and that we get to meet you next time. Happy travels. Bev and Warren
