Such a fantastic location to stay without doubt one of the many highlights from our visit to Juneau.

Thank you for your concern, it may be a while before I'm 100% but that day will come. We very much enjoyed visiting with you and Carol. Were very happy to see you take advantage of the boot tub so you could walk out on the wetlands. We saw a whole line up of fly fisherman out there, hope they got something.

Betty and Mark's place is spectacular. The view was amazing and the wildlife viewing was remarkable. The apartment worked out very well for our trip, perfect for a romantic get away. We eloped on our trip and the apartment was a perfect place to stay. It is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but only a short drive to downtown, about 10 minutes. Waking up every morning to a glacier view, well we have memories for a life time. Betty gave us some great recommendations of places to go. I just can't really say enough good things. We went almost every night and watched the salmon spawning in the creek, which was within walking distance, and bald eagles overhead every day, incredible!!!!!!. The apartment has lots of closet space, a small range for cooking, a full sized refrigerator, an eating area, and a nice love seat next to the window. The outdoor deck was an added plus. We did interact with Betty and Mark quite a bit, and they are wonderful people. We are hoping to return!

Amazing view of the the glacier everyday. We came to Alaska to see glaciers so this was the perfect place to stay. Watching the tides come in and out was also cool. The location is a little noisy with the airport nearby but it didn't really bother us. You hear air noise in a lot of areas around Juneau. It was a good area to be away from all the cruise ship traffic but still easy enough to go to where we wanted. Betty and Mark were also really nice and accommodating. We enjoyed the availability of Netflix too! Definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area for the required minimum nights.

Thanks, Amy. I totally agree with the boot tray. After you left we went and bought one and matching hot pads! Thanks so much for the good suggestions.

Beautiful home and amazing scenery! Very private, comfortable and relaxing. You do need to have your own transportation however to get to most of Juneau's attractions but it's worth it. Very gracious and accommodating hosts.

Betty and Mark are amazing hosts. The property is breathtaking with snow capped mountain and glacier views. It's located in the middle of nature. I saw eagles and hummingbirds while sitting on the private deck. The property is really an apartment that is attached to the main house. It's beautiful and cozy with hardwood floors a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. I am definitely going to make Betty and Mark's property my go to place while in Juneau. Betty and Mark made me feel at home and even invited me over for great wine and conversation during my stay. They have interesting stories to tell and gave great suggestions on things to do and see in Juneau. Betty is so sweet. I arrived late in the evening after the restaurants closed and Betty was kind enough to bring over a snack plate for me. I miss Betty and Mark already. Definitely stay at this location.

I don't know where to start with this review. Everything about this place - the location, the views, the hosts and not to mention the wildlife - was extraordinary. We stayed here for 5 days and here are the key takeaways - 1. Location - We were apprehensive at first since the house is on Douglas Island, a 30-minute ride from the airport. But the view of the Mendenhall Glacier from the house made up for it. NOWHERE else can you get a view as breathtaking from your bed as this place. There are loads of trails (Rainforest trail is recommended) near here which lead up to the beach and offers spectacular views of smaller islands. If you're lucky you'll get to spot bald-eagles right from your front porch. 2. Accommodation - The house was immaculately clean, spacious and well designed. We had everything we needed in the house, including a scoping telescope to view the glacier and the bald-eagles that frequented this location. The house is safe and in a nice neighborhood, where everybody knows each other. The fridge and the cabinets were well-stocked with essentials and for everything else our hosts were just a door away. 3. Hosts - 'Great' would be an understatement when describing our hosts. Betty and Mark were extremely helpful in giving us local tips on where to go and what to see. They also invited us over for some home-made rhubarb sauce and wine. We talked and got to know each other and its probably the first time we've connected this well with a host. Tips - 1. Definitely rent a car if you're coming out here. 2. Take time to explore the trails on Douglas Island 3. Visit the Island pub! Great restaurant for great pizza and beer We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I are retired, love to travel the world.
We prefer to travel with carryons only and have taken long trips like this. We do laundry as necessary.
We have greatly enjoyed this new venture, we love talking with people from all over the USA and other countries. We are good ambassadors for Juneau and Alaska.
