Description

The space

This sensational apartment is perfect for couples, friends or families. Published on The Urban List's "The Ten Best Airbnbs In Auckland" in 2016.

The apartment is on the 2nd floor and has a deck at either end - the first deck looks out directly to the viaduct harbour, city and skytower; and the second deck looks out to a boat lock and across to the 5* Sofitel Hotel. It is spacious and luxuriously furnished, with furniture and artwork from around the world.

If you choose to stay in and cook, there are all the facilities you need.
Eat or have sundowners at either of the two dining areas - either inside, or on the outside deck on the fabulous Philippe Starke chairs!
Then, sprawl out on the super-comfortable couches and count the boats that go past. Bliss!

There are three fantastic bedrooms. The master bedroom has a memory-foam queen bed, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, and access to the front deck. The second bedroom is a comfortable double, with access to the back sun-room. The third bedroom is a children's dream - a designer triple bunk bed! Please note, these bunk beds are for children, not adults.

If you need to take time out from relaxing, there is a gym, pool, spa and sauna within the apartment complex that you have access to.

If you can drag yourself away from the apartment, then the restaurants, bars and nightlife in the Wynyard Quarter and the Viaduct are only a couple of minutes walk away.
Wander along to the ferry terminal for a day of island-hopping, or the train station for a trip somewhere further afield. If you're after a bit of shopping, then walk to Britomart or Queen Street.
In summer months, head to Silo Park on a Friday night to the food markets and "Movie under the stars".
Two large supermarkets are within 10 minutes walking distance, and there are two small supermarkets ("superettes") within four minutes walk.

The building has a secured entrance, and you can access our apartment either by lift, or stairs. There is a noise-control policy that you must abide by - you cannot create noise that might disturb neighbours after 10pm.

Note, that this is our personal home, and we take a huge amount of care with it! This apartment is NOT the right place for you if you are planning to be noisy or careless.

The neighbourhood

Right in the middle of the very best things that Auckland has to offer! You don't need a car, and everything is within only a few minutes (or in some cases, seconds!) walk.

Getting around

From the airport, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the apartment. Your options are:
Super Shuttle: a shared shuttle bus service that will drop you off at the door. Approximately $30
Private Taxi / Uber: approximately $80

Once you're staying here, the ferry terminal is within a few minutes walk, as is the Britomart train station.

This was a great flat in a great location. It was actually ideal for young children- the balcony was very secure, and it was lovely being able to sit outside and have breakfast and dinner in all weather conditions. There is a great deal of construction work going on around the area meaning detours if you are driving. We were told the hosts were too busy to meet us at the apartment despite letting them know over 2 days in advance, and the key could only be obtained from their office in downtown Auckland. There was an overwhelming odour that hit us upon entering the apartment, almost like there had been a flood on the carpets and then it had just been left to dry. It was quite a bizarre damp smell, and we could always notice it particularly when we re-entered the apartment. There were dishes in the dishwasher when we arrived as well. We had one key fob between us, so it was really challenging being able to do things independently of each other because the only way to operate the lift and get into the complex was with the fob. Other than those issues, the apartment was good. We took advantage of the swimming pool and gym, and the location was awesome. There is a great little coffee shop in the hotel next door, and the views of the city regardless of weather was awesome. Towels and linen were fresh, and the rooms well presented.

Great location to marina/harbor and easy walk/commute to number of tourist attractions, restaurants, downtown and ferries. Very comfortable home and easily accommodated our family of 4 - parents w 2 adult children. Highly recommend. There is considerable construction occurring in that vicinity that can challenge taxi direction but if use nearby Sofitel as pickup /drop off point that works very well. Loved the balcony where we could enjoy breakfast or relax in evening after touring.

by a team working this house, never reply in time, several people answer the phone call and nobody taking good arrangement even no feedback. The house cotton sofa has smell. Too many mosquito, too many. Ordered their van to the airport at 7am cost $85. the driver said he is reach at 7:15am and promised will reach airport before 8:00am. Finally he cames at 7:42am, and we took the other two taxi to catch the flight cost $220.
