I like to live by the rule: 'Do unto others as you would like done to you'. In other words, be respectful. We live in a world full of rules. In my home I like to keep it simple, smoking room is the outdoor deck and shoes are left at the front door. I want my guests to feel relaxed in my beautiful home.

Response from Mary Lou:
These guests said they wanted to return this weekend to attend the candlelight stroll. Reading this review is rather puzzelling, therefore I shall address each issue. Check is time is listed on my site, between 3 and 5pm. Knowing their flight arrival time at Pearson was 3pm, I estimated they should arrive between 5:30-6pm. I waited for the guests untill 7:30pm, and I had to leave as I had tickets to a black tie event that began at 7pm. My 25 year old son who assists with my bnb agreed to greet my guests, and kindly helped them with their luggage up to their room. He made them a cup of tea upon arrival, which was after 8pm. (I'm not sure what else was expected as bnb rules are very clear with regard to meals.) Breakfast is listed on my site to be 9am, with the option to request an earlier time. The guests were up at 7, assisting themselves in my kitchen. A full beakfast was provided each morning, on schedule although on the 3rd day they did not arrive to breakfast untill 10:20, as they had already had toast, marmalade and tea at 7. I had to drive my son to have day surgery therefore arranged to have my friend who is a chef make breakfast at 9am, which was disguarded as they did not come down to the dining room. I came back home by 9:30 and made another hot breakfast for James and Breda when they came downstairs. I met each request with a smile, cereal and tea at all hours. These guests were without a vehicle so I drove them to town and then on a tour of Niagara one morning to see a few historical sites and wineries. They told me it was more than they had seen of the town on past visits. On Sunday evening, I came home to James passed out on my couch in my family room. I tip-toed around him to decorate my Christmas tree rather than awaken him. After sleeping for more than an hour, he woke up. My family was about to have dinner in the ajoining kitchen so I offered him a drink which he accepted. I made him more tea for his wife Breda as she was upstairs with a headache. I offered clean towels and Breda said they were fine with the ones I provided. (I do not change the bedding on a 2-3 night stay unless requested and would have been happy to do so.) There is a one time cleaning charge listed on my site for each stay. There is a lock on all the rooms including the bathroom door, (push in and turn). Also, I attempted to email James 3 times regarding communication, and each time the email bounced back. Breda provided me with her email so I ensure they see I attemped to communicate with them. I run a bed and breakfast, not a hotel or an Inn, which James stayed in on his last visit to Niagara on the Lake. When their friends came to pick them up, I was gracious as they entered my home, came in and looked around, including offering them a cup of coffee or tea. I enjoyed James and Breda, his humour and her soft Irish charm especially. I go out of my way to try and meet the requests of all of my guests, and they were without exception. By the comments in the guest book they left, (see below) I would not have known I did not live up to their expectations. "Thank you for a lovely 3 days at your home. May Lou is a great host as is her butler Steve. We will be back at some stage. 25th to 28th Nov 2016 Breda and James Ireland & Englands finest".

Great location for exploring Niagara on the lake and and surrounding areas. We borrowed her bikes and cycled to the wineries which was very enjoyable. Mary Lou is very warm and welcoming and cooks the most delicious breakfast.

Mary Lou is a great host, if you want to feel like part of the family this is the place for you. The room was big and comfortable, and there is access to other parts of the house to relax or watch TV. The use of bikes is also included which are a great way to get around the area. The location is peaceful and only about a 20-30 minute walk (5-10 min cycle) from the main shopping area. Mary Lou went above and beyond by lending us umbrellas and wet weather gear - she even kindly gave us a lift into town when there was rain. Her cooking is fabulous too - you start the day with a hearty breakfast which is delicious.

A very welcoming delightful house in a quiet residential area backing on to vineyard. The room was delightful with all the amenities required. The shared bathroom was spacious, clean and elegant. Breakfast was different each day and delicious.

Mary Lou was a great hostess from the time we arrived until we left. We loved having the bikes that are available to ride to the wineries and to town. Breakfast on the deck was fabulous on a beautiful day and a nice time to talk with Mary Lou and hear her sons music.
