The space
Beautifully restored 18th Century farmhouse in an idyllic rural position on the edge of a popular historic village. Relaxing and comfortable, the house is stylishly decorated for modern living with period and contemporary furniture. Relax with a glass of something outside in the garden or beside a log fire in Winter. Walk straight from the front door onto open fields, along the canal towpath or up on to the famous Wiltshire Ridgeway with its white horse.

All rooms overlook the large private garden. Spacious, light filled bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a separate shower room. 1 Master king-size bedroom with en-suite bathroom, 1 super-king size bedroom with cot if necessary, 1 family bedroom with king-size and single, 1 king-size bedroom and 1 single bedroom.

Start your day with eggs from our free range hens and in summer linger late outside by candlelight under the cherry tree or in the open barn. In winter share a long meal around the big oak kitchen table before relaxing in one of the sitting rooms in front of one of three fireplaces on large comfy sofas. Fully equipped kitchen with Aga, electric oven, nespresso coffee machine and purified filtered water system. Drop in to the local farm shop or cheat a little by visiting the 'Cook' shop in Marlborough nearby. Enjoy a relaxing brunch in the farmhouse kitchen or outside at several tables in the garden or celebrate more formally in the beautiful dining hall by candlelight with your own private chef by request.

Wander through the village to the award winning pub 5 minutes walk from the house, famous for its food, wine and specialist beers. There are logs available for your use in the fireplaces and a gas BBQ outside for summer dining with a covered open barn to eat in as well as plenty of outdoor tables. Stretch out in the garden with something to read to the sound of bird song or marvel at the night sky lit up by stars. The choice is yours! Plenty of private parking.

We are delighted to welcome you to the farmhouse and very happy to make recommendations, all of which will be in the file for guests on arrival. Also have a look at our online guide on the listing for ideas of what not to miss.

Groceries and deliveries can be pre-ordered from Ocado/Sainsbury's/Morrisons/Tesco and Majestic and delivered straight to the house.

Where you’ll be

All Cannings, Devizes , Wiltshire, United Kingdom

All Cannings is a beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). The house is located on the edge of the village with spectacular views over fields towards the famous White Horse downs, with plenty of parking in a private drive. 5 minutes walk from the well stocked village shop open daily and outstanding local pub The Kings Arms - famous for it's food, wine and real ales.

Between the pretty market towns of Devizes and Marlborough, the house is only 15 minutes from Pewsey train station taking you directly to London in around an hour.

Walk out from the house onto open downland or along the canal path which runs through the village with great pubs along the way. Go up onto the ridgeway to see famous Wiltshire long barrows and the historic White horse carved into the hill or walk to the world famous Avebury stone circle. The ancient Savernake forest is a 15 minute drive. There is also wild swimming, golf and canal barges to hire nearby. Details of all of these plus local horse drawn caravans for hire are available in your guestbook when booking.

Marlborough (15 mins drive) has various great places to eat including a Rick Stein restaurant and together with Devizes (10 mins drive and also with plenty of good places to eat) has weekly markets. Both towns have good supermarkets (Waitrose/Sainsbury's etc) and a variety of antique and independent shops together with leisure centres and festivals for longer stay guests. There are plenty of great local pubs within walking distance serving food and open 7 days a week and several a short drive away, one of which is Michelin starred.

The ancient stone circle historic sites of Stonehenge and Avebury (nearby) in Wiltshire are well worth a visit. Salisbury cathedral, theatre and historic museums and Wilton House are both 45 minutes drive away and the lovely Georgian town of Bath an hour's drive. National Trust Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot museum and village location of many period dramas is a 30 minute drive and a great day out.

Longleat or Cotswold wildlife park are also great places to visit especially with children. There are beautiful open walks direct from the house along the canal path running through the village or out into the open countryside including up on to the historic Ridgeway.

Places to visit and restaurants are listed in the guidebook available via the listing.
