Right in the loveliest spot in Kommetjie, Surfsong is a little piece of heaven. Close enough for the very little children and toddlers to skip down to the beach, the older surfers to wave watch and watch the sunset from the deck. All gorgeous and the house has everything we needed and plenty more. Thank you Richard.

My wife and I were lucky enough to stay in Surfsong in March for 4 nights. We couldn't fault the accommodation, it immediately felt so comfortable and just a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect, with wonderful views, steps from the beach and the sound of the surf to lull you to sleep or tempt you awake in the morning. Richard was an excellent host and arranged access to suit our timing. Superbly comfortable, brilliantly located and 10 out of 10 for our needs.

After leaving the house for 10 days for a Garden Route trip we moved back in and stayed another 4 weeks. Please refer to my previous entry. Apart from 3 days without water and two power outages - Richard always went out of his way to fix the problem - our stay was perfect and we are happy to come back.

Richard and Laura were very friendly and welcoming and even gave us valuable advice on interesting activities in the area. Whenever we needed something or had a question Richard almost instantaneously answered our text messages. The house itself is very charming and offers see views from most rooms. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and is spacious and can thus easily host 4 couples although I would recommend less people for a longer stay. The master bedroom on the second floor, right next to the main living and dining room and the veranda, has the nicest views, the highest standard and the nicest bedroom, pretty much high boutique hotel standard. The other bedrooms are rather standard but very clean and comfortable. The living room is very inviting and the veranda has one of the best sea views including mountains that you can possibly have in Cape Town. There is a braii/barbecue area on the veranda which together with the outside dining table allows for beautiful barbecues outside. The main kitchen (there are two more kitchenettes) is fully equipped also for the preparation of fancy meals. Downstairs used to be a separate apartment with two bedrooms (both with sea views but rather limited) one bathroom and a kitchenette. The standard is basic but comfortable! Adjacent is the wooden deck with the pool which is rather small but ideal for kids or for a refreshment on hoter days. The deck also offers sea views, a dining table and sun chairs. Kommetjie is a a very charming sea side village but quite spread out and the tiny and friendly village center offers about 5 restaurants/cafés/eateries and two small shops. It is not a bustling seaside resort rather a beautiful sleepy seaside village. The house is about 20 minutes by foot from the village center and 2 minutes from the beautiful Long Beach. The water temperature in this part of the Atlantic is cold to ice cold (10 degrees Celsius) even in summer. The neighborhood is very friendly and feels very safe although it is not gated as adjacent communities to the east. To play it safe we never slept with the windows open although we thus couldn't hear the waves at night. The house looks like a charming old seaside cottage and many similar houses around have thatched roofes. The house as most houses around has only waist high wooden fences and in all of Kommetjie the electric fences so ubiquitous in other parts of Cape Town are a rare sight. As we read burglars tend to prefer houses with plenty of escape routes which especially the house at the end of a dead end road on another dead end road does definitely not have. The drive to Cape Town city center takes about 45-60 minutes, the drive to Camps Bay 45 minutes, so while Kommetjie is pretty much in the center of the best wave surfing spots (with Long Beach itself being one) it is not close to the city center. There...

Our stay at surf song was amazing. Six of us spent the week surfing, playing on the beach (easily reach by foot), and visiting the town of Kommetjie. The house was very well appointed and although you are close to Cape Town and a number of places to eat out we never wanted to leave; the view from the house is genuinely one of the best in the whole area, and the kitchen is modern and easy to make up big meals. Richard was a great host, quick responses, local recommendations, and all around helpful on check in and out. The location is perfect for side trips to cape point , or Simons town and the shops nearby have everything you would need. Super convenient and centrally located, yet surf song is well removed from the traffic and stills offers the feel of an authentic beach holiday with the locals. This place is a real gem, looks every better in person , we were lucky to stay there and would definitely recommend. Can't wait to go back someday! Matt

We loved the cozy and stylish homy feeling of the house and will definitely come back! Also a major plus was being able to bring our Labrador who btw loved especially the beach and view
