The Summerhouse is in the idyllic village of Tarrant Hinton in the South West of England with many local picturesque walks and cycling trails.
The village is one of several small communities with a Tarrant name prefix along the seven and a half mile tributury, which runs into the River Stour. As well as Tarrant Hinton, they are Tarrant Gunville, Tarrant Launceston, Tarrant Monkton, Tarrant Rawston, Tarrant Rushton, Tarrant Keyneston and Tarrant Crawford.
The village is close to large towns such as Blandford Forum and Salisbury yet far enough from the madding crowd. It is approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) north-east of Blandford Forum. Wimborne, Dorchester, Bournemouth, Poole and Southampton, as well as the New Forest are within driving distance. As is the Jurassic Coastline, which has the beautiful Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and other beaches close enough to visit.
As well as the Tarrant valley's renowned spectacular scenery and challenging walks. Tarrant Hinton is probably best known as the location of the Great Dorset Steam Fair in August.
You do need a car or bike, but there are buses to Blandford and Salisbury, Weymouth. There are bikes to ride but you need to bring your own protective headgear etc. Please note these are ridden at your own risk.
Other things to note
The summerhouse is a delightful fully insulated 50 year old wooden cabin which stands within the two acre garden of a traditional Dorset thatched cottage, overlooking the village church dedicated to St. Mary, which is medieval and dates from the 1200's, with commanding views of the surrounding countryside. The summerhouse is a distinctive cabin sleeping up to 4 people in comfortable self catering accommodation.
The owners are Carol and Stuart. Carol is a potter and ceramics tutor, and as well as creating her own work, teaching in her studio in the garden. Stuart is a Head Gardener and has shaped and maintained the gardens to enhance the site.
The summerhouse is used to accommodate residential potters, but the owners are happy to invite anyone to come and stay with them whether or not they want to pot or not. The choice is yours. If you want to experience one-to-one tuition contact Carol for dates. Visit Cedar pottery website (URL HIDDEN)

We moved to Tarrant Hinton village in 2012 from Berkshire. We love it down here in Dorset as it is so lovely and peaceful, especially looking out over the fantastic views. Stuart has landscaped the garden with wildlife in mind and it is an oasis of calm, even for our free range chickens
Carol is passionate about pottery and teaching this art/craft in her studio to whoever wants to have a go. We both love the country style living and want to give you a good stay. We hope you will want to experience the pottery studio and the beauty that Dorset can provide, but the summerhouse accommodation is a beautiful space to stay whether you indulge in the clay or just want to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
