Stonehurst is a serene and comfortable home base for exploring the island; my family and I enjoyed the house so much. The layout is cozy, beds comfortable, kitchen spacious and outside areas completely stunning. We all left feeling rested and rejuvenated by our time on the island. Thanks to Mark for sharing his beautiful home.

Mark is a fantastic host and the property is truly amazing. The house and grounds/gardens are beautiful. A very quiet and private spot as well, with easy access to the main road. Check out the excellent farm stand across the street too.

Beautiful place on a beautiful island the hosts were very welcoming and attentive there were no issues and the pictures are reflective of the property. I would suggest putting in a pullout sofa/bed on the main floor, because the extra bed upstairs is a nook ( which is very charming but the ladder to access it is very close to the stairs and therefore more suited to a teenager than a young child) would absolutely recommend this place to any family.

Stonehearst's cottage is the centrepiece of a huge lot in the calm Northern part of Salt Spring Island. When we arrived, we walked around for almost two hours just admiring it all. The landscaping does a great job showing off the natural beauty of stone and water, with bright, flowered gardens throughout. The cottage itself is the most impressive I've ever seen. The floor is made of giant slabs of rock which are heated so you can comfortably walk bare-foot. Red clay covers the walls and all the trim is made of shaped stone or solid hardwood. You don't really get to see homes like this anywhere else. Mark was our host here and he made sure we were taken care of. In our particular case he went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. My wife and I got married at Stonehearst, in the courtyard just beside the cottage. Our host was so excited for us and did everything he could to accommodate. The whole thing went well and the photos from the wedding look amazing. We look forward to staying at Stonehearst again for our anniversary, and many more.
