Our house is in Lazio (Latium), in Trevignano Romano, one of the three villages that, together with Bracciano and
Anguillara Sabazia, overlook Lake Bracciano. The house, surrounded on three sides by a big garden with trees
(including 7 olive trees and some lemon trees) and nestled on a hillside, has a wonderful view of the homonymous
lake. The building features three floors (ground floor, first floor and mansard): the ground floor includes a big lounge
with fireplace, wood stove, plasma TV and stereo system, open kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric
oven, bathroom with shower and laundry room with tumble-dryer and ironing board. On the first floor there are two
bedrooms with French window overlooking the garden and a bathroom with bath. We give our guests the freedom of
one of the two bedrooms, which sleeps four people and features a double bed and a bunk bed. On the second floor
there is a large mansard with balcony, which sleeps three people (one in a single bed and two in a sofa bed) and a
bathroom with shower.
In a short time (5/10 minutes) you can walk to Trevignano, an ancient village with a beautiful square which features
an excellent confectioner’s/ice-cream parlour and a wide range of home cooking restaurants which offer local typical
dishes for the most demanding of palates. The walk back to the house takes about 15/20 minutes (depending on
people’s physical conditions) since it is uphill. It goes without saying that you can get anywhere in a few minutes
by car. From the square you can quickly reach the waterfront, with its pier which is the departure point for daily
lake cruises throughout the whole summer. From there, if you want to walk, you will have the opportunity to do it
even on hot days, sheltered for a km by luxuriant trees. This pleasant walk leads to the beach, which is equipped
in some stretches and public in others, and where you can go for a swim. The lake is fit for swimming: it is Rome’s
main drinking water reservoir. There are lots of sailing clubs which rent sailing or rowing boats (motorboats are not
From Trevignano, which is on the border between the province of Rome and the province of Viterbo, you can reach
both cities in about 45 minutes by car (Roma-Fiumicino airport is about 30 minutes from Trevignano), but from
Anguillara and Bracciano there are trains for a convenient journey to Rome.
Trevignano lies in an Etruscan area and is renowned for its appreciable archaeological museum with invaluable finds ,
but nearby you can visit the necropoles of Sutri, Tarquinia and Tuscania and the Villa Giulia National Etruscan Museum
Spa-lovers, awaiting the re-opening of the thermal baths in Vicarello (a village on the lake between Trevigliano and
Bracciano), can reach (in 30/40 minutes) Terme dei Papi in Viterbo or the idyllic Terme di Stigliano, swathed in the
greenery of the natural park of the Tolfa mounts.
