Life is too short to settle for generic lodging....and this little two bedroom cottage in the heart of the Midwest has all of the comforts of home -- and then some! (Hygge...its all about simple pleasures in life.) You have the entire property to yourself, complete with a fully appointed kitchen and laundry, & large outdoor space for relaxing. Our hens will treat you to fresh brown eggs daily ...and copies of Marci Penner's Kansas Guidebook are by the beds to encourage exploring in Kansas!

The space
Two bedrooms (with plenty of pillows), fully appointed kitchen & laundry facilities, shared bath, full living room with additional fold-out sleeper sofa, electric fireplace, smart TV with Netflix and high speed wireless internet. Outdoor amenities include a grill, picnic table, outdoor furniture, a firepit for stargazing and S'more's, and a life-sized "Jenga" game and yard dominoes for hours of entertainment!
If you will be arriving early enough for a fire, and the weather is cooperative....Gary will light the firepit for you to enjoy!
When you make reservations at the Guest House, you will be assured that it is all yours...the kitchen, laundry facilities, everything! A great way to make your next stay more affordable.
The front door has a digital keypad entry and the code will be shared with guests in advance of arrival.
We welcome dogs who are house-trained or crated. If you need outside pens for dogs, we have 3 pens, and 2 igloo doghouses—just let us know and we’ll have it ready.
(Sorry...I have an allergy to cat fur.)

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire property. The entire home will be theirs for their stay, as well as the outdoor amenities. We supply some snacks and breakfast supplies, including fresh eggs from the neighbors.
Because our tiny town doesn't have a grocery store (it's 11 miles away)....we try to keep the cabinets stocked with necessities for our guests...and provide seasonal snacks at check-in (Iced Tea/Cheese and Crackers in the summer....and Hot Cider/Cookies in the Winter). We have an assortment of cards and games for all ages, as well as magazines, TV (with Netflix), and a comfy sofa for relaxing.
Please let me know if you have any specific allergies or food restrictions I should be aware of.

Other things to note
Situated in the heart of America...this little town will give you a taste of rural America with it's wide open skies and rolling wheat fields dotted here and there with family farms. We even have a Vintage Schwinn 2-seater bike for you to explore our little town with! Perhaps you'll peddle up to Evie's for a beer...or stop off at our unique "Tiny Free Library" and take a book home to enjoy.

Our neighborhood is a quiet family neighborhood in a very tiny Midwest town. You are welcome to walk or bike and explore the town! There is one restaurant in town....only a few blocks away; and a variety of other restaurants 11 miles to the West in Jetmore. We are a short 1/2 hour's drive from Fort Larned Historical site and HorseThief Reservoir...and only 45 minutes from world-famous Dodge City!
A do-not-miss if you want to relax and enjoy a taste of life in the Midwest.
We are really big on quiet evenings around the fire pit, with Smores and an adult beverage...and Gary will be happy to build a roaring fire for you (S’mores supplies are kept stocked for you.) The custom-made fire pit represents each branch of the military in it's custom base.

I love to travel, to read non-fiction, and to plan events! My husband and I have a Guest House (B&B we don't live in) and are enjoying meeting new friends and fellow travelers. Most of my travel is within the US, but I have been to India and Europe and loved it! I am employed in the Economic Development and Tourism industry and enjoy spending time with my family. I have a little black Scotty named Mamie; can't function without coffee; am a big fan of wine by the firepit; and enjoy my little Glamper ( a vintage 65 Shasta camper) that I have "glamped up". My current passion is developing a Community Maker Space with 3D printers and other equipment. My life motto: "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." -- Alan Kay

During your stay
We always try to be on site when our guests arrive to give them a tour of the house and make sure that all of their questions are answered. We try not to hover...but are always right across the street (and only a phone call away) should they need anything. If for some reason we will not be on hand...we will let them know in advance.
We do have a little Scott Terrier, Mamie (named after Mamie Eisenhower) who lives with us across the street. She has been known to bark....but will not come over without us.
There are always fresh eggs in the fridge from our neighbors...and you are welcome to our garden fresh goodies in season. (Gary is the one with the green thumb.)
