Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
The Pillars Bothy is a rustic, quirky, but clean and super comfortable cottage, sleeps 4, with shower room, wifi, heating and hot water from the super woodstove. At the edge of the woods but only 100m from Pillars shop and Cafe so not remote. Footpaths from the adjacent woods lead to Falkland (20 mins), Maspie Den with its overhanging waterfall, and the Lomond Hills.. a perfect place to enjoy the simpler things, but by car, Perth is 25mins, St Andrews 35 mins, Edinburgh 1 hour 10mins.

The space
There is a separate downstairs bedroom with a double bed. There is also a double mattress on the floor of the mezzanine platform above the sitting room. It has a steep, ladder type stair so not suitable for very young children, but great for teenagers and romantic couples! There is an open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room with a wood stove, (which does all the heating and hot water) (free firewood!) and a separate toilet with walk in shower.

Guest access
The Bothy is entirely yours for your stay. It has a small lawn at the front with table and chairs where you can sit out, and open access at the back of the cottage to the woods and walks of Falkland Estate. 20 mins walk to the village with pubs, shops etc, and 2 mins walk to our own organic shop and café. Feel free to wander around our farm trail, see the hens and the polytunnels.

Other things to note
If you're looking for microwaves, a snazzy kitchen, and satellite tv, this place is not for you! Our Bothy is rustic and unsophisticated, but it is clean, warm and cosy, has good mattresses, feather duvets, white cotton bedlinen and towels. The stove is simple to operate and will provide all your hot water and heating. (free firewood) Our guests love it, and return again and again for its simple charm, quiet space, and an opportunity to holiday on an organic farm. Unlike most cottages, we don't charge extra for firewood, electric, wifi and cleaning but we do welcome guests that treat the space respectfully, and ask that on leaving the beds are stripped, dishes washed and put away and recycling and rubbish taken out. Remember to bring a torch (in case you need to top up the firewood after dark) and slippers for the wooden floors!
