The space

The beautiful new 7 apartment building has an elevator and gated underground parking which keeps the car cool in the summer.
Our street leads straight to the gorgeous private like beach. Just a few steps. Adjacent to the beach is Midron Yaffo, a state of the art park that looks over the sea. This too is private like during weekdays.

Ajami is the section of Jaffa that runs alongside the beach. It is a mixed gentrified neighborhood. Quite exotic and has a special flavor. village like with allies and old architecture. It is full of many Mid Eastern restaurants and small shops. Tel Aviv center is 20 minutes drive or bus ride, but Jaffa which is the southern part of Tel Aviv, can keep you very busy and interested; Next to Ajami we have Old Jaffa; a gem of allies, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, historical homes and archaeology. There are theaters, concerts, cabarets, restaurants, cafes, many churches, small synagogues and mosques. Then there is the famous flee market and the fabulous Sea Port with boats, special structures, galleries, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, promenade and other points of interest. 3 minutes walk from the house will take you to the Peres Center for Peace which hosts all kinds of interesting events.

Jaffa boarders with The Tahana – a restored historic train station with cafes boutiques and galleries and Neveh Zedek, the first Tel Aviv neighborhood. N.Z, is one of the most desired neighborhoods and tourist attractions. It is the home of Suzan Dallal, the main Dance Center. It is also near the historic Yamanite Quarter –Kerem Hateimanim - and the adjacent Carmel Market.
The accommodation: The master bedroom is ‘royal’ with queen size bed and adjacent bathroom. The second bedroom with its own bathroom is simpler with a queen size folding sofa. It makes a great bed . Bedding and linen are top quality.

We stayed at Ellie's apartment on the weekend. We are a couple and our grown up daughter came with us. The location of the apartment is close to the beach and there is a view from a small balcony with partial view to the sea. The apartment is located in a run-down residential area, no coffee shops or bars around, a good 30 minutes walk from old Jaffa and even further away from any tourist attraction. The rooms that are photographed are the same in reality but the place feels run down and not fresh. The master bedroom has no ensuite bathroom but an adjacent one. The toilet in the closest bathroom/ toilet was out of order so we were told not to use it. There is another toilet in a separate room further away in which the toilet seat was broken. The other bedroom smelled like a smoker's room and generally felt unpleasant to be in. If we had known this we wouldn't have reserved the apartment. When we made the booking Ellie called and asked if we needed anything. We said we needed milk for our coffee. there was only a half empty carton of milk in the fridge. The fridge had nothing as refreshment and we were not offered to use anything in it. Ellie left a few nice cookies for us to use. when we read about the apartment and looked at the pictures provided by Ellie we thought we are in for a treat and a luxurious getaway for the weekend. Unfortunately, the apartment is not welcoming and pleasant and hospitality is not it's strong point. We felt that although this place had potential , we would have enjoyed it morebif the apartment was better maintained and some attention was given to the guests' positive experience beyond the very basics.

Response from Ellie:
I read the above review with disbelief. When Netta arrived here she seemed a disgruntled woman even before she entered the apartment ( I was graceful and wrote well about her in my review of her in spite of my impression). There have not been a visitor to my apartment who did not "wow" about it and the view. To demonstrate her attitude I would point to her complaining that we left a "half empty carton of milk" - not half full... This shows her attitude overall. - Half carton of milk for 3-6 coffees for the one morning they were here is more than enough. I left a full bag of cookies (not "a few cookies") and a bowl of fruits for them, which she neglected to mention' as well as a variety of coffees and teas. Why would she expect more food items from me??? - Netta knows Jaffa, she knows my neighborhood is gentrified and chose to be in it. Why complain that it is run down? It is very mixed with hi-end building and run down houses and that is it's charm and this is why properties here command top prices . - There ARE coffee shops right around the corner (true - no bars). the best is Cassis on the beach downstairs and others in the nearby main street, right around the corner. - The Master bathroom "has no en-suite bathroom but adjacent one" What the hell is the difference; Nobody ever thought it was a disadvantage. It really takes a negative mind to turn even my royal bedroom suite into a negative. Shame. - True one toilet got out of order but it is NOT true that the other's seat was broken. Yes, a screw got loose so it was less stable. - The room that smelled of a smoker. YES. This was an unfortunate accident; A day before their arrival I had another renter family leave. Their teenage son who had stayed in that room broke my rules. I was upset and try as I could the smell did not all go away. I am deeply sorry about this mishap that was out of my control. Overall it seems that Netta is a very critical negative person. I too, had I known her attitude, would have avoided dealing with her.

We like to stay at Ellie's apartment. She was very hospitable and friendly. The apartment was clean and it was nice direct sea view from the living room. There are 2 separated bedrooms with 2 separated bathrooms, in the apartment, so it is not a problem to stay at this apartment for 4 adults. The beach with all necessary equipment was situated in 5 minutes on foot. Also it was very comfortable to have underground parking with elevator to the floor. There was a lot of Ellie's things (clothes, photos, etc) in the apartment and a lot of foodstuff in the fridge. It was unusual for us. Unfortunately the apartment is situated in 15-20 minutes on foot from renovated old Jaffa city and there are a lot of slums around the apartment (on the other hand it was very colorfully :) ).

Response from Ellie:
Thank you Andrey. May be it's a language issue, but the way you wrote it, one may get the impression that clothes, photos, etc. were strewn in the apartment, so I'd like to emphasize that all cloths were hung and folded neatly inside the closets and I left for you more closet space than you could use, as you said so yourself. It also puzzles me why being 15-20 min away from Old Jaffa is "unfortunate"... the best way to get there is thru the beach road and park which are stunningly beautiful. Indeed Jaffa is "colorful"; a gentrified neighborhood, one of the most desirable in Israel. The mixture of luxury and old is considered very appealing.

We had the most wonderful holiday staying at Ellie Gustafson's stunning home in Jaffo. The property is extremely spacious, very elegant and sophisticated, and offers fabulous ocean views. We most highly recommend this property and the gracious hospitality of Ms. Gustafson!

There were two double beds and a couch. At most, this location sleeps 5. We were given a dirty mat for the floor - this was not what we expected - was not suitable for sleeping. The apartment was clean and nicely designed. Had an amazing view of the sea. 5 minutes from Jaffa beach. 25 minute walk to Old Jaffa and 1 hr to central Tel Aviv (or 15 minute bus ride). Convenient parking spot.

Ellie was very accommodating and flexible. Her place is beautifully and tastefully decorated with exceptional art pieces and located in a fabulous neighborhood! The beach was close by although a bit dirty. We felt very secure in this location. Old Jaffa was a pleasant walk - about 15 minutes and offered wonderful shopping and restaurants. We didn't find any supermarkets close by but were able to pick up wine in Jaffa. We weren't able to access the wifi but the Internet was available through Ethernet so bring your cord. We really loved our time at Ellie's apartment and would recommend it to our friends.

Response from Ellie:
Thank you Susan. I too enjoyed meeting you and having you say over. Sorry about the Wifi. It had just happened and is fixed by now. As to the beach, it is a clean and private like on weekdays but weekends, when you stayed, are very crowded and you experienced the results. Though the nearest supermarket is not in the immediate vicinity, there are many grocery, vegetable, meat, fish shops all around. I wish I had guided you better. Next time...
