Welcome to a simpler time...The River House was built in 1870 and comes with lots of charm, plenty of outdoor fun, or come to just relax! Here you will unwind, unplug, and recharge. A River Retreat ...
There are 3 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs with big closets for all your personal items.
The main floor has 2 porch rooms, a kitchen with all new appliances, a large gathering room, and half bath.
Sit outside and watch as huge barges navigate the Mighty Mississippi on the large, double lot under beautiful mature trees. Grill out, play horse shoes, have a small fire and be sure to wave to boaters as they go by...
Bring your own boat or rent one from across the bridge at Kings Cove.
The entire River House is yours to enjoy.
With the exception of the basement and garage.
Interaction with guests
We hope to welcome each guest as they arrive. We plan to introduce you to the area and answer any questions you may have. A guest book will give ideas and activities of things going on around town. We live in the area and may stop by via boat, bike, or car to see how you are doing. We want your visit to the river to be relaxing and a place you want to return.
The River House is perfectly located! If you feel the need to leave and go explore, there is plenty to keep you busy!
Historic Downtown Hastings has much to offer with shops, restaurants, bike rentals, trails, and outdoor seasonal entertainment on the NEW River Walk at Levee Park.
Beautiful Lake Isabelle is a block away for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
At the Hastings Marina, you can launch and dock your own boat. Boat rentals are close by at Great River Rental, just across the bridge.
Hikers and bikers will love the trail system that is 2 blocks out the front door.
30 minutes away by car and you will find the beautiful river towns of St Paul, Stillwater, Hudson, and Red Wing!
While you can walk to most places, the grocery store, movie theater, fast food, Walmart, Target, and airport are too far and a ride would be needed. Airport taxi or SmartRide are 2 options. There is room on the street and in the driveway to park 3 vehicles as well.
Other things to note
The River House can be used for small events under 100 people. It's perfect for showers, birthdays, family reunions, and small weddings.
There is an additional fee for events. Please contact me for more details.
The River House is located in a small quaint neighborhood with other homes not far away. We would ask our guests to be respectful of neighbors and of our personal things. We understand that accidents happen, but expect any items that are damaged or broken to be replaced.
Rental of the house is for up to 6 adults only.
We have raised 3 children and have taught them to "always leave a place better then you found it" whether at a park, walking down a trail, or staying at a friends home... Please practice this while enjoying your stay in our home, boating the river, or hitting the trails in Historic Hastings.
Please remember that The River House is a home, not a hotel room.
Hello and Welcome!
I am Kelly Francis, your host at The River House in beautiful, Historic Hastings Minnesota!
My family and I have lived in Hastings since 2003. We have 3 beautiful daughters, a son in law, and our first granddaughter!
We love adventures and just returned from Iceland where we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! We currently live out of town about 15 minutes, on a little horse place. I am living my dream of owning horses, which we take camping and trail riding as often as we can.
We have owned The River House since late 2015 and I finally have it perfectly furnished for guests to unwind, unplug, and enjoy all it has to offer!
We can't wait to meet you...
