The space

We have three large, light and comfortable rooms in a family home right in the heart of Machynlleth. Each one is uniquely decorated, and furnished with a double bed (though we can accommodate more on futons if you need!).
Though it is a family home, you will have a private small kitchen and bathroom, and also access to the family garden if you wish. There is also free internet, a DVD player with films to watch, a radio and a book swap. We can offer you a relaxing, private and peaceful space, whether you are an individual, couple, family or a larger group.
Machynlleth itself is a pleasant market town surrounded by hills and at the edge of the beautiful Dyfi valley. As well as the Wednesday weekly market, there are plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat. Just outside of town there are many cycling, running and walking trails in the hills, mountains and forests, Europe's leading eco-centre the Centre for Alternative Technology, the RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve (made famous on Springwatch!), two fantastic beaches at Aberdyfi and Ynyslas, and just a short distance away Aberystwyth, with its splendid Arts Centre.
The house has nearby parking, is just 100 yards from the bus stop, and only a few minutes walk from the train station.
Please note that we do not accept pets and as the rooms are on the third floor, the accommodation is not suitable for those with mobility problems. The stairs to the loft are steep.
You can park outside the house to unload and then move the car to an off road car park a couple of hundred metres away.
We are located on the main road, so there is some traffic noise during the day.
Looking forward to seeing you!

Guest access

You will have third floor of the house and the loft space to yourself. We generally don't accept more than one booking at a time.

We had a great stay. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend this one.

Joan's house is about 100m from the centre of Machynlleth, which is very convenient. You have three rooms on the second floor, plus a toilet and shower in the attic. There is a separate private kitchen for guests on the same floor as the bedrooms which is quite well equipped. The breakfast essentials were all provided.

I stopped over night with my teenage son. It was perfect, big beds, lots of space, kitchen facilities, table tennis & all easy walking distance to good pubs and restaurants. Thank you

Comfortable and really well-equipped bedroom, kitchen and bathroom in a really interesting old house built from slate. Central to the small interesting town and good on-street parking. And lots of books to read.

Joan has a great little set up for guests. I was surprised to have basically a whole floor of the house to myself, complete with a well stocked kitchen and shower room. Bedroom was large and comfortable. Perfect place to stay at the mid point of my 200 mile cycle through Wales.
