Eclectic style with amazing vibes. Yes, this IS a shared housing situation, BUT it's almost like having your own home.

I primarily live across town with my husband but love to retreat to the 'Valley House' for gardening, creative time, spa days, tea w/ friends, working in my home office or doing required maintenance.

I/we spend a few afternoons & maybe one night a week there. So, occasionally you would share the communal areas with cool locals, but mostly you would have the place to yourself.

The space
The Valley House is a small, cozy, clean single-story home in the Westwood neighborhood of Napa. With a nice balance of modern, global and vintage decor, people of all ages feel this property is a warm and welcoming haven to return home to after a day of work or play.

Your private bedroom is fully furnished and does not share walls with another bedroom. This Asian-themed room, affectionately called the ‘Zen Den’, has a memory foam double mattress and high-quality bedding, a beautiful real-wooden desk, tons of storage and colorful yet soothing artwork.

Blue-colored Moroccan-style tiles line the bathtub wall and meet a natural rock pebble backsplash, creating a richly calming ambience for bathing and grooming. The bathroom is shared, but as stated previously, the other housemates bathe and groom primarily at our other residence.

A quaint, well-equipped kitchen includes custom-made cabinetry and concrete countertops, a functional 1940’s Wedgewood range/oven and all the plateware, glassware, cookware, bakeware, blenders and gadgets to satisfy even the gourmet cook. An adjacent dining area has an expandable table that seats 4-6 people.

Thoughtful arrangement in the living room makes great use of space and offers a variety of seating options for conversations, reading, working or relaxing. Games, books and art supplies are just an arm-reach away.

Outside, the Valley House backyard is a sanctuary for birds, butterflies, dogs and humans alike. This large, peaceful yard has been lovingly cultivated over the last 18+ years and beckons folks to relax, play, entertain, stretch, read or simply stop and ‘smell the roses’.

Coming here is like staying at your best friend's house. Warm, welcoming and safe. Adults, kids and pets will feel comfortable and at ease. Best for one person, though a couple or parent/child is possible.

Renter will have one dedicated parking spot in the driveway, and street parking is free. Washer and dryer are in the garage. Price includes all utilities and wifi. Bicycles are available upon request.

Guest access
You have access to all communal spaces. Friends and family of renter are welcome to visit and help you make the most of all the cool nooks and niches to hang out in. House rules apply to everyone who enters, and general common courtesy and respect is expected.

During your stay
The amount of interaction between housemates will be guided mostly by the desires of the person renting the room. As shared previously, we will not be there most of the time, and when we are, we are happy to chat and interact and are also perfectly fine just doing our own thing.

Other things to note
The quaint homes in the Westwood area were built in the1940's and have tons of character. Houses are small and close together, but that means people interact, get to know each other and look out for one another.

After living in this neighborhood for 20+ years, I can say with complete honesty that I have always felt safe and appreciate the kindness of my neighbors. Many of these properties have been remodeled and the city is in the process of replacing/upgrading old water and sewer systems, adding streetlamps and sidewalks and repaving the streets.

The Valley House is easily accessible by car, bicycle or public transportation, making it easy to plan your wine country stay. Downtown Napa is a 7-minute drive, 12-minute bike ride or a 25-minute walk. In addition to the obvious wine tasting experiences, Napa offers a plethora of other things to do and we are happy to share all our favorite places!
