Description

Colorful, historic, and sunny 1910 home overlooking Lake Michigan and steps from downtown Kenosha. Centrally located - walk to the lake, museums, streetcars, library, restaurants, shopping, and more. 10-15 minute walk to the Metra station.

This stylish and artistically furnished home boasts warm, wood floors, colorful walls, and lots of sunlight throughout. With gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and Wolfenbuttel Park directly across the street, this house includes a private garden where guests are welcome to relax and enjoy themselves, and a screened porch out front, to sit and watch the sunrise and contemplate the beauty of the lake.

Guests are encouraged to use most rooms in the house, including the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The private garden, and screened porch in front are also free to use. Only the owner's personal room, office, and attic spaces are off limits. Both bathrooms (one downstairs and one upstairs) are shared, but each has a shower, so there shouldn't be much competition in the morning.

Since I work at home, I'll be available all day, M-F, to assist you or answer any questions. On weekends, I will be around less, but still available.

This home is in the perfect location, at the northern edge of the Historic District, directly across the street from Lake Michigan and the Southport Marina. It is an extremely walk-able neighborhood, just a few blocks to the Harbor Park Market, the lakefront Museums, downtown, and to the Kenosha Electric Streetcars which offer a fun and inexpensive ride to the Metra station.

Depending on how fast you walk, you can be at the Kenosha Metra train station in 10-15 minutes, where you can take the Union Pacific/North Line to Chicago for the day, enjoy the city, and return to your Kenosha Airbnb for a relaxing sleep. The Electric Streetcars can be boarded just a few blocks from the house, and 6 bus lines can be accessed from downtown to take you just about anywhere you need to go. Kenosha also has several cab services. We don't have city bikes yet - but I'm working on it!

Guests are welcome to use the wireless/Internet on their personal computers. You are also welcome to use the refrigerator/freezer, and cook during your stay. So long as you clean up after yourself, I'm easy going about using the kitchen and appliances. The butlers pantry is reserved for guests, which I've stocked with a few pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot, and utensils for use. The downstairs living room has a stereo system, and television with DVD/Netflix for streaming. No cable however. I have a cat, so hopefully, you aren't allergic.

Check-in time is 12PM (noon) - 1PM.

A $100 security deposit is requested, for the return of the keys to the house and room, which will only be applied if you forget to return these things. I ask that you be reasonably quiet and respectful during your stay, and clean up after yourself. I work at home, and generally get up between 6:30-7:00 am for work (M-F). The upstairs bathroom is across the hall from the guest bedroom. I will be quiet, but if you are a light sleeper, be forewarned. I don't allow smoking in the house, but you are free to smoke in the private garden, or outside. Sorry, no pets allowed.
