Tiny private room with a mezzanine in a tiny house (38 m² aprox) located in the outskirts of the city going east. Double bed. Quiet neighbourhood by the de la Plata river full of gardens and fruit trees. Shared kitchen, living and dining room. Shared toilet. 30 - 50 from Montevideo city centre.

The space

This is a shared space where you will probably meet other guests from around the world. It´s a small space (a tiny house of 38 m² aprox) with three rooms which can held 6 people maximum. So if you like meeting people and sharing with them, this is the place ! If not , it's okay too! You can have and enjoy your own time and space by yourself. You are free to choose. Although I'm the main responsible of keeping the place tidy and clean, at the end is a shared responsibility. So you if you cook you should clean, if you saw something dirty or untidy and want it different don't complain, just do the work. VERY IMPORTANT: No fridge, no TV in my place. Learning to live fridgeless could appear to be crazy stuff, but it's not. Actually it's far less crazy than having a fridge on 24/7, 12 months a year, specially if you live in a four seasons climate - where you have three months of winter and at least two more months with a kind of cold weather. In conclusion, we use an outside place for food storage and try to live in the present in terms of vegetables, fruits and meat, that means we buy what we are going to eat today and maybe tomorrow, but forget about the day after tomorrow.
No shoes in da house. If you don't like to be barefooted or sockfooted you can keep a pair of clean shoes for inside use only, but they must be 100% clean.

Guest access

Frontyard, outside patio, living and dining room, toilet, private room, parking area ( roofless)

Interaction with guests

I usually have free time to show you around. I can also help you in learning some Spanish, Portuguese or English. I'm an Alexander Technique teacher, so I can give you lessons if you are interested in it. We can share meals as well, although (ye, I know, a bit weird) my time for meals tend to be earlier than usual. Also I tend to go to bed early and be up by 6 or 7, but when guests are in there is always time for exceptions !

Other things to note

LGBTQ FRIENDLY !
NO FRIDGE, no TV. No shoes in da house !
Yes: Wireless Wi - Fi, oven and burners, hot water, fireplace, some musical instruments.

Bastian was a very nice host! Very worried about my schedule. It was my first time in montevideo and he helped me to take the right buses and gave me good tips.

Bastien was a very kind host. He picked us up from the bus station and helped us get around the city. The room is small but it was perfect for us. The location is far away from the city center but we had no trouble taking the public buses (33 pesos) into the city and back. We shared the house with some other guests and they were all very friendly. The cat and dog were great too!

As others have said, Bastien is a lovely host - very friend;y and seemed genuinely interested in chatting and getting to know his guests. The other guests were also very friendly and helpful. Even Luna (the dog) was very welcoming and sweet. The place was very clean and had everything we needed - private room, shared bathroom and shared kitchen. The location was perfect for us - there was a great mini market/cafe 2 blocks from the house, it's close to the beach, and it's about 3kms to a lovely area with shops and restaurants. The only thing I would advise others is that there are multiple guests on the property. From the description we thought we would just be sharing with the host, but there were several other guests. Nothing wrong with that (in fact it's nice to meet more people) it just wasn't clear to us that this was the arrangement until we arrived. We would definitely recommend Bastien's place.

First of all, Bastien is a fantastic guy! Friendly, very helpful and knowledgable. Met us off the bus in Montevideo, nice touch! Luna (his dog) was also lovely, was sad to leave her. With the regards to the property and room, its in the backyard of a main house. As the bed in the room was close the ceiling, it got very hot at night (the window being open done nothing, we moved the mattress to the floor). Fly nets on the windows done nothing to keep flies and mosquitos out, bitten from head to toe (even with repellent). This along with the 7-7:30am wake up call from the neighbours dog every morning meant not a lot of sleep was had during the stay. There was also a couch surfer staying in the living room/bedroom, which had me wondering why I was paying to stay? Overall an okay stay. Host and dog were perfect...other things could do with improvement.

Response from Bastien:
First of all, thank you for your detailed review. You made me work on the answer ! About the heat … it’s all relative mate. Many many people -including myself- have slept in the mezzanine during hot days. And we’ve done okay. I guess because you’ve come from a colder climate are more sensitive to hot temperatures. I understand that and that’s why I’m opening new windows in the room. Secondly, bugs are part of life. My house is surrounded by nature: fruit trees, plants, flowers… bugs are an inevitable part of that. Most of the people do okay with repellent. I'm sorry if you don't, honestly. With regards to the neighbours dog you are the first ones to complaint. I think you shouldn’t blame others for issues that are personal, in this case, sensitivity to noises during sleep. Having said that, I agree that the neighbours dog can be annoying sometimes. You mentioned some issues that weren’t accurately reflected in my listing description: noise, size of home, photos. Noises : You are the first ones to complaint. Many guests even mentioned the quietness of the neighbours as one of the positive features of my place. Photos: Yes, the living room has changed and I didn’t updates photos of it yet. As I’m always improving the space I’m finding hard to keep the photos up to date. Size of the home:“Tiny private room with a mezzanine in a tiny house (38 m² aprox)” You might have skipped this. You suggested that my space could be cleaner in the following areas: bugs, bathroom, kitchen. Bugs : They are living beings, not rubish. Be careful with what you say. Bathroom and kitchen: This is not a hotel. This is a shared space where people are responsible for what they do. I do clean, you saw me, but I don’t go mad about cleanness. If you saw or smelled something dirty, you should have taken responsibility for that. That’s part of the house rules – you might have skipped that too. By complaining you put yourself in the place of a victim, instead of doing what you need to do to get what you want. And mate, I didn’t force you to choose Airbnb before CS, that your business. Mine is to host people from around the world and have fun with them!

My friend and I stayed with Bastian for a night. He was a very good host. He helped us a lot even after our stay at his place. He tried his best to answer any question we asked. Bastian is open minded, friendly, helpful, and has great attitude. Our stay with him was fantastic. He even shared Alexander Technique with us( ask him about it). Overall, I recommend his place to anybody who is visiting Montavideo. Cheers

(ENGLISH)I 'm a strong willing, friendly, open-minded ( well, I do my best! ) young man. Sometimes to strict with myself and others, sometimes not...
I love to host, that's the simple truth. I love to meet people from around the world at my own place. I found it's an alternative way of travelling. Time pass in a slow manner, it's like each second had more life within it ! Hard to explain but I think if you have had the experience you can get what I say. I enjoy honest conversations in many different topics, I can almost say I'm interested on everything! Each one of us has something unique to show to the others, so let's share it! There's something way beyond topic-centered conversation though, I would call it self-centered conversation. When we are on it, it doesn't matter really what we are talking about, the important thing is that the way we are doing it brings to the surface that unique something we all have.
My passions are music, growing food, the Alexander Technique and ..... guessed it! , hosting people from around the world. I'm always trying to improve my spoken languages (and learning new ones, why not?!) so I can communicate better with people from around the world.
