Charges taxes after you book so the price you think you'll be paying will actually be more. Feels like a bait and switch. For what was charged for cleaning, did not expect to see mold and dirt in the tub. Made me sign an additional contract after I booked with more restrictions. Just overall felt unwelcoming. The place was pretty with a decent view. Nice newer kitchen but felt useless with no condiments at all. Zero sugar coffee, salt pepper, etc. Don't bother renting if you plan to cook, you'd have to stock all these basic things yourself. Did not notice this information when booking - wish I had known, I would have chosen another place. Also there is no way to park two cars in the car port. Plan to park one in the street. Overall not a good value.

This location is very central and perfect for exploring hilo and the surrounds. They have thought of everything and we really enjoyed our stay. The coqui frogs take some getting used to but the hosts even proved earplugs!! The balcony is amazing for watching the sunrise with coffee and we had fun watching the geckos catch bugs out there too! The kitchen is well appointed and we shopped at KTA and cooked family dinner every night. The beds were comfortable and the laundry facilities was a huge convenience and bonus! I will be back to stay again for sure!

The house is very clean and comfortable. We especially loved sitting out on the lanai any time of day. It was nice even in the rain. You can see the ocean in between the trees. We were there with our 3 grown kids and there was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy time together and get private time when they needed it. The furniture and appliances are all updated. One of the bathrooms is downstairs so it got used less, but was still useful to have. We appreciated the beach mats, chairs and towels as well. The fridge is empty and there is no salt and pepper, spices, or condiments, so if you plan to cook just be aware. There is no A/C and we were still comfortable, even in August - though we were never there in the middle of the day. We'd definitely stay there again.

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in this house. The house is clean, spacious and comfortable, and located close to city (a few minutes drive) and University (walking distance).

The home is centrally located in Hilo with a short drive to anywhere in town. The beds are comfortable and the ceiling fans help cool everything off. The Koki frogs were a bit loud at first, but ended up being nice to fall asleep to. Would definitely stay here again.

Coconut palms is a good house for a family vacation - we had a 4 day stay in Hilo at this house. It was small but comfortable for our group of 4 adults and one kid. The kitchen, living and dining area are open to each other and that makes it a good floor plan for a vacation home. The house was well equipped with essentials and located close to shops and restaurants in the Hilo area. We found staying in Hilo was very convenient since it's closer to the Volcanoes and Botanical gardens compared to the Kona side. The only drawback with the house is the second bathroom is downstairs by itself (all bedrooms and rest of the living areas are upstairs) and therefore not very usable. Other than that, everything was pretty good and I would recommend this house for a group of 2-5 people. More than 5 might be crowded for the space.
