When we arrived the man receiving us didn't know who we were and the room could only sleep 4. We are 5. They brought in another mattress but what teenager wants to sleep on their parents' floor? Communication after we arrived was poor and we didn't know if there was dinner or what time it was served etc. We were very much left to our own devices until we went to ask for mint tea. The meals were nice but simple. One evening we had soup, vegetable couscous and oranges with cinnamon and the next evening we had soup, vegetable tagine and an orange. We were charged 1000dn for this which we think is incredibly expensive! The rooms are very nice but they are cold. There are some portable heaters but these are gas and we didn't want to use them. The master bed is huge and very firm. I was so cold I slept inside my sleeping bag with all the blankets provided as well. Breakfast on the first day was a buffet as there were lots of people there. Staff were very attentive and friendly. On the second morning breakfast was served to our table but was quite limited. We got the impression that we were inconveniencing the staff. The grounds are very nice and inside there are peacocks and guinea fowl. Outside there are chickens, turkey, rabbits and a donkey. Staff were picking the rabbits up by their ears which was not nice to see. There is quite a bit of peacock poop on the pathways and at night they're dark - so watch where you stand. It should really be cleaned up. Youssef is very polite and helpful and the staff on the first night were lovely but on the second night (different) staff were less attentive and their attitude towards us was surlier. Mint tea never arrived for example. The staff on view at the lodge are all men. At times their behaviour seemed quite superficial. It was just a general feeling I got.

We had a great stay at the Ecolodge! The food is good, the accomodation is clean and the people who work here are very nice and helpful! It's a little far out of Ouarzazate, so keep that in mind. It's very nice to be in such a calm place. We liked the Berber music after dinner!

We've stayed at many hotels in Morocco. This place is truly special. It's situated at a beautiful ancient village outside of Ouarzazate. Yossef and his family spent three years building a stunning farm and hotel surrounded by snow-top mountains and lake. He believes it's important to be funny. Thankfully he is. :) The house is well made, spacious and has high shower water pressure. Peacocks on the property is a pleasant surprise. If we didn't book a hotel in Marakech, we'd have stayed for one more night. Note: The direction through Airbnb is not correct. It'd take you to a place 30min drive away. But It's not the owner's fault. Simply type the hotel name in (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Map, it will take you there. Try to get there before sunset. You would be stunned!

The place is really nice and the rooms very spacious and well decorated. The view is excellent and the area super calm. Youssef was very helpful and when the internet did not work, he shared with me his internet. The place is not easy to be found though; especially if you arrive late as we did. Make sure you have well in advance check how you will arrive and ask Youssef for instructions !

The Ecolodge is very nice in a beautiful and peaceful environment. Youssef is also a nice and friendly host. We arrived late and only spent one night. We would love to stay here longer next time. Rooms are big and comfortable.

Out of planet ecolodge (kind of looks like Mars with this landscape). Run by a huge family out in the wilderness. Sweet service, good food and friendly vibes. Spacious clean rooms and all in all a great stay.

After years working as director and managing different hotels, dealing with costumers from all around the world, I developed great communication skills, learning 7 different languages. With this knowledge I wanted to create something different. Modern, sustainable and traditionally berber.

Designed to be sustainable and suitable for families friends or couples and to serve clients with excellence and berber tradition.

The Ecolodge L’île is a perfect escape from a busy city to relax with beautiful views from the barrage and outside the crowded neighbourhoods.
