The Coach House is a luxury self-catering house, previously home to Queen Victoria's daughter, Louise of Argyll in the heart of fashionable, vibrant Frome. It is located at the bottom of Gentle Street - now made famous as a filming location in the hit TV series Poldark. On its doorstep are independent cafes, shops, galleries and historic buildings.

It is a perfect place for couples and romantic getaways. Also suits solo adventurers, and business travellers.

The space
The Coach House is a light, airy, funky space. Creating a central feature is the reclaimed, industrial, metal, spiral staircase. Downstairs has a fully fitted kitchen with oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. The dining area and shower room are also downstairs.

Upstairs is the cosy part of the Coach House - a gorgeous, comfy king-size bed with luxurious bed linen (anti-allergy / feather-free), and a snug, relaxing TV area with leather sofa and sumptuous sheepskin rug.

Guest access
The Coach house is entirely yours during your stay. You have your own front door and keys. It is completely private. We live in the adjoining Argyll House and are available if required - by phone, or you can knock on our front door.

Other things to note
Please note that the Coach House is right in the centre of Frome - it can be pretty buzzy on a Friday or Saturday night especially at pub closing time. It is not a rural retreat!

We offer a few add-on packages such as breakfast hampers (English and vegetarian) so that if you want to ensure a hearty and delicious breakfast on the morning after you've arrived we will provide you with the best ingredients to prepare. If you want to make your stay really special we also offer some romantic options including hand-tied bouquets of flowers, chocolates and champagne. Please do ask me all about these and I will give you the prices.

Location

Mendip District, England, United Kingdom

The Coach House sits at the bottom of beautiful, cobbled Gentle Street which was the original road into the market town of Frome. Gentle Street is now well known for being one of the locations they use in the hit TV series Poldark - we can't promise you Aidan Turner, but Frome has lots of other tasty attractions!

The house sits next to St John's Church and offers lots of lovely views from its windows. It is also at the top of Cheap Street - a medieval street which has a small river running down the middle of it. Cheap Street has cafes and independent shops to browse in as does the gorgeous Catherine Hill - this is a "must-visit". Catherine Hill is perfect for strolling along or up (it is pretty steep) and you will find yourself drawn into its fabulous shops - lots of them filled with vintage and quirky products.

The Coach House is across the road from Palmer Street where you will find lots of eateries - Italian, Indian, Chinese, British pub grub, and the wonderful Sam's Kitchen.

I moved to Frome 7 years ago and I'm a huge fan of this quirky and vibrant town. I am a jewellery designer and my partner, Rich is a local business owner, but his trade is graphic design. We love art and design, galleries, and I have a passion for history and historical houses. My guilty pleasure (or not even that guilty!) is my love of country music and my dream holiday is Nashville and Memphis. I also love a challenge and, in a couple of months, I will be taking a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia to cycle a rather long way for charity. I have a gorgeous daughter and scrumptious ragdoll cat and we love our Somerset life.
