The space

The particularity of this apartment is the ceiling and part of the walls covered with small red bricks, that a recent accurate restoration has brought to light.
A comfortable accommodation, ideal for holidays in total freedom, for families or groups of young people.

Being on the ground floor it is comfortable, but above all, quiet, because placed in the inner part of the building, away from the street noise, with access through a nice courtyard filled with plants. It has independent electric heating and air conditioning.

The borough of San Lorenzo, due to the vicinity of the University of Rome La Sapienza, is peopled by lots of students and is full of pubs, clubs and night bars. During World War II it was heavily bombed, but now it is one of the busiest boroughs of Rome, especially for nightlife.

Walking around the open market of this borough is one of the best ways to discover its dynamics, its traditions and typical behaviours. There are stories behind apparently trivial scenes and meaningful glances that are not difficult to understand if you have the patience to wander around the stalls.

The bell tolling of the nearby Santa Maria Immacolata church punctuates time; the belfry is built in the same way as that of San Marco in Venice. At lunchtime, you can have some delicious slices of pizza at the pizzeria “Come Manna dal Cielo”, on 68 Via dei Latini. True roman pizza that is shown to you uncooked and then cooked just after, ask why! You can eat it at Parco dei Caduti, in Via Tiburtina; don’t miss the monument placed in the middle of the park, designed by the architect Zevi in 2003 to the memory of the three thousand victims of the bombs.

From the 1st of January 2011 Rome City Council has imposed a nightly accommodation tax in the city of Rome. The tax is, € 3,50 per night (10 nights maximum) per person. Children up to 10 years of age do not pay. The tax is charged to anyone staying in any overnight accommodation inside the city boundaries. The fee, not included in the total rate.

Barbara was a wonderful host! She took the time to sit down with us and explain the map of the city, including public transportation routes. It was easy to get around to different sites from where we were located by taking the metro or bus. The apartment was very spacious, more than enough room for all of us - the most space we've had at any of our stays in Italy so far. The place was very clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was the WiFi. Barbara mentioned there was an issue with the previous guest breaking it, so it was only available in the far room. This was unfortunate for us because we only had phone access via WiFi as we did not have international plans. Otherwise, our stay was great and I would definitely recommend this place!

Amazing location, near great restaurants and super close to the train station. The area comes to life at night and has great neighborhood vibe during the day. The apartment is big and has everything you need. The place gets used heavily and that's no suprise it's so cool. It does however show some wear from heavy use. Not a complaint at all. I'd rent it again for sure! A great bargain and a surprisingly amazing area. Barbra is very responsive and was on time every time.

We took the train from Citavecchia. The apt was literally a few blocks from the train station. Barbara's sister met us at the apt. Loved the apt and how much room there was for a family of 5, children being of adult age. There was so much room to spread out and 3 bathrooms really helped. Barbara and her sister were great hosts and were readily available,if we had questions. Would recommend for big families if you don't mind the distance to the main areas of interests.

We were greeted by the host's sister. The apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed. We were able to cook meals and were recommended a great store to buy fresh meats and cheeses. We even got fresh towels half way through our stay. The location was great and the street comes alive at night. We highly recommend this apartment!

The apartment was beautiful, spacious, well-stocked for cooking and in a convenient location for sight seeing, eating out or buying groceries. I walked to the apartment from the train station in about 10-15 minutes. Saturday night was loud due to people up late at bars but otherwise it was quiet and felt safe. Some of my family had trouble accessing the internet in the living room when more than one user was on-line. I would definitely stay here again.

Good place for a large group. Good places to eat nearby. Beds are a littlebit hard, three people can not shower after eachother. Then the last person will have cold wather. Coffee mashine was NOT good. No wineglases.

We were a family of 6 adults who needed a place to stay in Rome. Barbara's home was perfect for our needs. She had complete amenities for our 3-night stay. The house is on a residential area near Termini - a 12-15 minute walk. The house is huge for us and a 3 bathrooms were really helpful. We liked that the place is located near restaurants and souvenir shops (which have cheaper prices).
