About a 10 minute walk to the St. Charles streetcar.
Safe, family neighborhood
Full bed in loft
Air bed available by request. Can fit 2 more on the floor at an extra $10/night per person.
Welcome to our cozy shotgun! Your room is in the front of the house. There are two desks, which you are welcome to use. Up the ladder and into the loft, you'll find a reading nook on one level and a full bed on the other.
You can close the french doors that lead into the living room for full privacy. The space is recommended for 2 people, but if you'd like to use our air mattress, you could fit 2 more on the floor at an extra $10/night per person.
You will have private access to the front entrance of the house. Our room is on the other end of the shotgun and has its own entrance. Along with your room, you will have shared access to the living room, the kitchen, and a full bathroom.
The kitchen includes a microwave, stove, oven, double sink, refrigerator, freezer, and kitchen table. There is ample room in the fridge. Ask before you eat anything of ours, but usually we're pretty good at sharing. :)
Interaction with guests
You'll be sharing the house with myself and my boyfriend, Dave. I'm a musician and am usually home during the day. Dave is a bartender so his schedule is a little more sporadic. If we're home, feel free to hang out! We'd love to send you to some of our favorite places!
On the other hand, if you want to sleep all day or just want some alone time, please do not feel obligated to entertain. Dave and I have both traveled cross-country with Air B&B, so we understand how valuable privacy can be.
We got so lucky when we found our house here in the Irish Channel! We're three short blocks from Magazine st. where you can find tons of bars, restaurants, and stores. It's a five minute walk to Walgreens and the grocery store.
Along with being close to everything, our neighborhood is also about as safe as it gets in New Orleans. We're close enough to Magazine st. that there's usually foot traffic on our block, but far enough away that it's quiet and comfortable. I would feel safe walking around at night by myself. If you're at all street smart, you'll be just fine.
Five minute walk to numerous bus lines.
About a twelve minute walk to the St. Charles streetcar.
Other things to note
I have a cat named Mr. Baby. He is super friendly and probably the most handsome cat you'll ever meet. He's incredibly lazy and doesn't understand ladders, so don't worry about him getting into the loft with you. It is totally up to you how much contact you have with him. If you'd like for us to keep him out of the two front rooms so you don't have to worry about him, no problem. Just let us know what works for you!
Dave and I are pretty relaxed when it comes to rules. All we ask is basic common courtesy.
If you get back to the house after a long night of Mardi Gras shenanigans, please respect that a lot of our neighbors work early in the morning. It's cool to stay up and hang out in the house, just be mindful of your volume. We're usually up late, anyway.
Most importantly, whatever you do outside of our home is your business, but please keep our house a safe space.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
Hi! I'm Una. I live in a funky little shotgun in the Irish Channel with my boyfriend, Dave, and my cat, Mr. Baby. I'm a singer/songwriter and Dave bartends at a few spots around town (he's got the best advice on local spots!). Mr. Baby is lazy and unemployed.
We've both used Air B&B numerous times while traveling. Now that we have a space to give, we want to pay back the hospitality!
We like sarcasm, nachos, philosophy, and dad jokes.
