SPECIAL HURRICANE MARIA NOTICE: We are currently closed to the public until further notice. While the island is green and the Hostal Casa Culebra is ready to receive guests, we rely on the town generator for power. Water is unstable. Until power and water have been re-established, we do not encourage trips to Culebra as the generator is barely keeping up with residents. Call or message with questions about rebuilding or future reservations. We will update this message as soon as things improve.
Hostal Casa Culebra has 4 one bedroom air conditioned villas each containing full sized beds, 1 full bathroom, a small dining table, well- equipped kitchen, ceiling fans and large balcony with a view of beautiful Ensenada Honda. In the living room each villa also contains a sofa/futon that can sleep 2. The photos shown are of Villa 2. We try to place our AirBnB guests here, but this is based on availability.
There is an outdoor industrial grade kitchen available for grilling and cooking with family and friends that are guests of Hostal Casa Culebra. Since our villas are not staffed 24 hours a day, please clean up after you prepare your meals. The beautiful surrounding areas for lounging, reading a good book or having a meal are for guests only. Please, enjoy our outdoor spaces. The dock spaces are also for our guests and can be requested for a fee if you choose to arrive by boat. No fishing or swimming near the docks. Unaccompanied minors are not allowed on the docks. This is for the safety of our guests and boaters. For your safety, our property is under surveillance 24 hours a day. Please, let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
Interaction with guests
David & I enjoy meeting our guests and will also be available for any special needs or emergencies that may arise. If you have special requests such as bags of ice for your beach trips or extra linens please, get these requests in by morning as we are not staffed 24/7. While we do not live on the property, we live close by and are happy to swing by if we are not already working on the property.
Other things to note
Note: Our base price includes the 7% tax imposed by Puerto Rico Tourism.
All bath towels, linens and cooking essentials will be clean and available before your arrival. We do not offer beach towels, so please remember to bring those and your personal hygiene products. If you forgot something, it does not hurt to ask... we may just have it! If you prefer to pack light, remember, Culebra has several small markets and boutiques that sell a little bit of everything.
The property is in a residential area and we have neighbors. We ask that guest keep it down after 10:00pm. The property itself is very tranquil and we strive to keep it peaceful for those guests that come to relax in our beautiful surroundings. We will not tolerate loud music or yelling. Thank you for being considerate to your neighbors.
We love animals but, no pets are allowed.
You may smoke on the property if it is not disturbing your neighbors, especially in the balcony areas and gazebos. No smoking in the villas. We pride ourselves in how considerate our guests have been and work to keep the shared spaces comfortable for everyone!
Dock space and gazebo are for the exclusive use of our guests. If you are looking to reserve the entire space or host an event please discuss with your hosts, Jessica or David.
Culebra is a small island and like most islands we have very limited resources. This is why we strive to be eco-conscience. This applies to power, water and our landfill. The water is brought into Culebra! When it runs out, it runs out... We have backup in case of emergencies, but please, be considerate when using water. Turn off all lights and the air conditioner when you leave for the day.
On property, we have recycling bins near the entrance. Please, consider separating clean plastic, cardboard and aluminum items to help minimize an already overflowing landfill. At 11 square miles, more visitors means more waste, so helping us in these small ways, helps minimize the impact and keep our unique island beautiful for many years to come. Thank you for being mindful.
David and I moved to the beautiful island of Culebra in late February from the state of Colorado where we fell in love with each other and the outdoors. My passions are painting, motion design and cooking. David loves playing tennis, snowboarding and is quite handy.
We've always enjoyed traveling for the adventure and change in perspective that it can bring. We've been using AirBnB for some time as it suits our independent style of travel and enjoy cooking our own meals (most times). We enjoy meeting our guests at Hostal Casa Culebra and making sure they feel happy and comfortable. We believe the best things in life are simple: nature, good people, good food and music. Live. Love. Be.
