Welcome to our lake house!

We are excited to host you at our happy place. We have owned this home for over 12 years and decided recently to share it with others during the times that we can’t be out here. Here are some tips and rules we hope you will find helpful.

•The cottage has air conditioning. It cools the home very quickly. We just ask that at check-out you turn the a/c unit to OFF.
•The plumbing here is not the greatest, so please do not throw anything into the toilet besides toilet paper.
•Please be careful with the amount of electrical you use at one time (example, don’t run a hairdryer, ceiling fan, vacuum and a/c all at the same time.) If you trip a breaker, the breaker panel is outside on the west side of the house.
•The fireplace has not been inspected and cleaned in a while, so please do not use it.
•We do not have a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink, so please clear plates into the garbage first before washing.
•Feel free to make yourself a cup of coffee. If you use the coffee maker, please remove the used filter and throw in the trash before you leave.
•Please DO NOT open the screens off the main living area. You can open the French doors for air, but the screens need to remain closed at all times.

We stayed here for a long weekend away from the city to unplug and unwind. This cozy little cabin did not disappoint. Arranged perfectly for two people, we spent most days relaxing on the back porch, walking to the lake, or driving a bit over the state line to enjoy apple orchards, wineries, and breweries. We ate at Stop 50 one night and walked home in the dark to the sky lit with stars. We saw a glowing sunset and read through all of our piled up New Yorkers. There was no tv and no distractions. The birds woke us up in the morning. Perfect.

A lovely place to stay and recharge! The cabin is simple and beautiful, and the covered and netted patio is a great hangout spot in nice weather. My husband and I bought groceries at Al's grocery store nearby and cooked our own meals with the supplies already provided in the kitchen, which had everything we needed. The only downside was that there is no microwave, and the dining table is very fragile. I leaned against it and it almost collapsed! Overall, it's a beautiful forest cabin, and we loved our stay.

Lisa's place was adorable and exactly as described. Very small and perfect for 2 guests. The private beach was awesome and it was fun to walk and look around the neighborhood. The screen room was delightful. The windows in house do not open though so a suggestion would be to leave screen room door open for air flow. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The pizza place was delish and the Stray Dog was only 8-10 min drive. Thank you for sharing your beautifully decorated home!

Lisa's place what just what I was looking for: cozy, charming, wooded. An easy walk to the beach but close to Red Arrow Highway which will take you anywhere you want to go in Harbor Country. We spent most of our time on the lovely screened-in porch. Did some wine tasting and liked Round Barn and Gravity.

This is a great little gem of a cabin between Michigan City, IN and New Buffalo, MI. Michiana Shores is such a quaint town filled with log cabin-type homes from the early 50's, most of which have been updated. The owner, Lisa, was so easy to work with from start to finish. Lisa's place was beautifully decorated. Lots of natural light, white lightly beach themed decor (not over the top), and a wonderful back porch perfect for drinking coffee in the morning and sipping wine in the evening. Very quiet, wooded neighborhood that is about a mile walk to the stunning beach of Lake Michigan. The accommodations were lovely with a small but completely functional kitchen. The beds (both the main bed AND the sofa bed) were incredibly comfortable. The only "cons" of staying at Lisa's place were the spiders. Given it's a wooded area, I"m sure it's hard to keep up with but there were many during our 3 days there. Thank you Lisa for a lovely stay!

This cabin was absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway! The screened in porch was beautiful and romantic, the beach is so close, watching the sunset was gorgeous over the water, and we had everything we needed there. Thank you Lisa for being a great host and having the perfect place! We would love to come back again!!
