A sandy beach lies below and the river beyond. Sauna and labyrinth are nearby. This is the favorite hide-away for guests.

The space

Overlooks one of Lucile's most beautiful views of the Main Salmon River.
The bed is a queen-sized memory foam mattress, positioned above a large storage space for luggage. The Wagon is lit by two solar lanterns and candles for mood. For your night comfort a chamber pot is included. Main toilets and showers are located a short distance at the Haven.
In the compact space, the table slides out from beneath the bed. The perfect venue for early morning coffee or tea, a light lunch or an evening of cards or a game of cribbage.
After a hike in the nearby mountains, a stroll up Cow Creek, Salmon or Steelhead fishing, or a raft or kayak trip down the Salmon River, you might want to return to the wagon to freshen up. A pitcher of water and guest soaps are provided. There are also large fluffy bath sheets provided, for trips to Mavens’ Haven swimming hole or wood-fired sauna.
Or perhaps you would prefer starting a little warming fire in the stove (small is the word here, as it takes very little to make the wagon toasty warm). Perk a freshly ground pot of coffee or brew a cup of tea.
Mavens' Haven has a full kitchen for guests who wish to cook meals. Other guests use the kitchen, as well, so please clean up afterwards. No one lives in the main building, it is a communal space and guests are welcome to make use of it. There are great spaces for reading and relaxing, there.
The orchard and gardens produce fresh vegetables most of the year. Guests are encouraged to help themselves when preparing meals ~ there are always fresh eggs in the refrigerator for your use.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the main guest house (Mavens' Haven), which is a community space with kitchen, bathroom/shower, WIFI, game room, movie room, and library. There are two guest rooms in the main house so, when occupied, please be mindful of early morning or late evening noise. There is a communal fire pit beyond the deck of the main guest house.

Interaction with guests

Guests mingle at the main guest house. Jim and Linda, neighbors living in the doublewide trailer next to the pickle ball court, can manage most situations.

Other things to note

The Riggins area claims itself as the "whitewater capital of the world". There are float trips daily throughout the summer offered through a wide variety of outfitters. In spring and autumn there are dory and jet boat fishing trips.

Great experience. Hanging with Darcy was sooooo much more than just lodging. Amazing garden, great location along the Salmon river and the main house is big, roomy with plenty of space to read, play games, watch videos-- chill. Also a hot shower and toilets so the wagon was only for sleeping. We cooked a wonderful breakfast with fresh eggs and garden veggies we picked the day before. Yummy. Be sure and meet Hazel-- the trained chicken. She was a hoot. A little tricky to find-- keep your eyes peeled for the clues they give you in the directions. We will definitely return to soak in the entire experience. We love Darcy and the property.

The sheep wagon and the entire place at Maven Haven is a hidden gem. The view and the sound of the river is extremely relaxing. This was are second visit and Darcy took her time and showed us how to can peaches, pickles, beets and zucchini from her garden. We are planning to visit again to do some more canning. We would highly recommend!

Darcy is an absolutely wonderful host. She is friendly and great to chit chat with. Her photos of her property don't do it justice and it really is a little Haven. We stayed at the river sheep wagon and loved listening to the river as we fell asleep. The main house has all the amenities you might want, plus a really cool spiral staircase.

It is just paradise staying here. The sheep wagon is perfect - right alongside the river where you have absolute peace and tranquility. Darcy and Renee are wonderfully hospitable and you feel like you're home the minute you arrive. It is just perfect for letting everything fall from your shoulders and relax. Just beautiful.

I was in search of a quick getaway for some much needed relaxation. This place was even better than I anticipated. The wagon was incredibly cozy and the view/sound of the river took things to an entirely different level. It is a magical place. Also... the best hosts I have ever experienced by far. Making sure I had every thing I needed, felt at home and even included me in some of the homestead activities. I ended up learning some wonderful things. I hope to visit again when they're offering classes or workshops. If you're considering staying here, do it!!!
