About this listing

Chalet les Islouts is a great choice for groups or families who want to have a great space for socialising, easy access to visit the whole Chamonix Valley, stunning views, a south facing terrace and still be in walking distance from the town centre.

The space

This modern chalet is constructed in traditional Savoyarde style by Nicodex, the master builder of mountain refuges and closely reflects this pedigree, with a wealth of wooden beams, an open plan lounge and dining area for socialising and a charming open fireplace constructed in stone and wood.

However the resemblance to a mountain hut ends here, the first floor bedrooms are all ensuite and of similar size. Each are named after the stunning views you can experience from their balconies – Brevent allows you a 180 panorama from Les Houches across Le Aiguillette to the Brevent, Midi takes in the Aiguille de Midi, Mont Blanc itself and the Bossons Glacier and Grepon adds a view of that classic alpine peak. All have built in wardrobes, TVs and DVD players and have the flexibility of either twin or king sized beds. Each ensuite bathroom has a washbasin and toilet and a hairdryer. Two of these have large showers, with the third bathroom having a double ended bath (no tap end!) with overhead shower. On the lower floor of the chalet is the Refuge, constructed by a local Chamonix carpenter and high mountain guide to provide a more authentic mountain refuge experience, with bunk beds, though ours are full sized and come with toasty warm white cotton duvets. If you want to bring your own scratchy blanket however for more authenticity, please feel free!

The main living area of the house is open plan, with lots of natural light. There are three sets of patio doors leading to a large, wrap around south facing terrace complete with Jacuzzi hot tub and magnificent mountain views of the Mont Blanc Massif. There is a fully equipped kitchen with large Miele fridge freezer, oven and microwave and Bosch dishwasher, a dining area for 10 and a lounge area with comfy leather sofas, a surround sound system, flatscreen TV with UK satellite TV and DVD player. This floor includes a small office area and a guest toilet with washbasin. Downstairs there is a utility area, complete with Bosch washing machine and separate tumble-dryer, and the lower ground floor also includes a ski and boot room with boot drier, which can also be accessed directly from outside via the double garage and finally, there is a table tennis table for the competitive amongst you. The chalet naturally has free wifi throughout.

The chalet can be rented self catered or catered, please ask about our different catered package options and prices.

Please drop us a line to check availability before trying to book, we can then answer any questions you have! Some stay types will also have special offers available, checking availability is the only way you will find out!

Guest access

The chalet and garden is fully available with the exception of 2 cupboards which are locked.

Interaction with guests

We use a professional property management company onsite in Chamonix, who will meet you when you first arrive, explain how everything works and deal with any requests you might have.

Other things to note

A few things people often want to know in advance are:

Q – What electrical plugs are in the chalet?
A – The chalet is currently wired with standard recessed French sockets so if you want to plug anything into the wall, you will need a suitable travel adaptor. Each room has a plug in dual USB socket for charging devices. If your appliances are 110v and do not have an internal transformer then you will also need to bring a suitable transformer as France uses 220-240v.

Q – I want to bring my favourite coffee from home – what machine do you have?
A – We love our coffee too! We have a Nespresso machine, a standard coffee filter machine and a French press if you want to bring your favourite coffee blends with you. Note that you can buy Nespresso compatible capsules in Chamonix but there is nowhere to get the originals (for now). The nearest Nespresso location is Geneva!

Q – Is the chalet non smoking?
A – Yes it is, there is no smoking inside the chalet or on the upstairs balconys, smokers can use the external terrace area.

Q – Anything else I should bring?
A – Please bring some chalet slippers to wear; there is a ‘no shoes inside' policy. After a hard day in the mountains, there is nothing better than pampering your feet in any case!

Q – What do you have for infants?
A – We have 2 x cots which configure as sleeping cots with 7cm mattress, bassinet with 1cm mattress and have a zippable end so kids can crawl in and out if parents want. Parents must bring their own linen to ensure it is suitable for their babies needs. We also have 1 x highchair. More of both can be rented.

Q – Do you have Apple TV, Netflix etc?
A – We have a Media PC with iTunes, Netflix and many other streaming film and TV apps. We have Zenmate (you need a subscription) and Hola VPN running in Chrome. You will need your own account for any service you want to use. We also have a selection of films and TV shows, accessed via Plex Media Server.

There is a full house manual in the property so you know where everything is and how it works.

Beautiful chalet, great for exploring Chamonix and the neighbouring area. Amazing views which can be soaked in from the hot tub. I hope we will be back!

We had a great stay in this gorgeous chalet, very spacious and lovely decor. The hot tub was amazing! The location was about a 20 minute walk from Chamonix centre, or a short bus/train ride. I would definitely stat here again and recommend to friends.

It was a very very last minute booking. And it couldn't have been better even booked 6 months in advance ! The chalet is perfectly located / equipped / cleaned. Beatrice's house is very family friendly (baby cots, baby chair, door for the stairs, sledge) and parents friendly as well (fireplace, outdoor jacuzzi) The team was absolutely kind and available, Beatrice as well. I can't do anything else than to deeply recommend that place :-)

I have always loved the mountains and Chamonix is my favourite place of all. Mostly I'm pretty active - whether it's skiing and snowboarding in the winter, or hiking, running and mountain biking in the summer but I also like to just relax and watch the seasons and light change. We bought Chalet les Islouts for just that reason, the views are truly stunning from both sides of the property as you will find out for yourself if you come and visit!
