Sensational Conversion Featured in Grand Designs
This old St. John ambulance station has been recently converted into a stunning, beautiful four-bedroom home, earning it features in Grand Designs Magazine, Deezen and winner of Architects Journal's Retrofit Award plus shortlist for the World Architecture Awards.
The ideal place for hosting a holiday with both friends and family (and dogs!). Located within the old town walls of Rye and just a few minutes walk from the train station. Rye High Street is just a minute's walk up cobbled Conduit Hill.
The space
The home offers exceptional space with a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area. A double sided wood burner in the centre of the living area is fully functional and guests are welcome to enjoy this feature. Also on the ground floor is a shower room and one double bedroom - suitable for wheelchair use.
As you continue upstairs you arrive at the second double bedroom and the main bathroom. Just past these is a twin room with single beds that can both be pulled out in to doubles.
The master bedroom located at the far end of the property features an en-suite shower, super king sized bed and a picturesque view over part of Rye.
The front doors can be both opened to allow for wheelchair access. Pets are allowed but confirm with ask us before you book. We recommend booking for up to 8 adults or 6 adults and 4 children. There is a fire pit and outdoor seating in the outside area.

Where you’ll be

Rye, England, United Kingdom

Rye itself is one of the best-preserved medieval port towns in England. The ancient buildings and cobbled streets of this former smuggler hotspot are frequently used as backdrop for period dramas for film and TV. Today, Rye is less rebellious, having transitioned from a thriving fishing town in the 19th century to a mini-cultural capital with an abundance of art and photography galleries. The charming Mermaid Street, the opulent Norman church of St Mary's, and Camber Castle - built by Henry VIII and found in the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve - are all must-visits.

Passionate about design and architecture - i designed these houses myself and welcome you to enjoy it. Plus 2018 St.John won the Architects Journal retro fit award.
Life should be full of beautiful spaces, views, friends, good food and fine wine!
I spend most of my time designing a better environment, cooking, celebrating with friends and family plus running domstayandlive, my hobby is collecting houses which i design then rent. I've just written book about design so can't wait to see it in print. My aesthetic is Dada, Duchamp, Tarkovsky, Polanski, Judd - yes, a bit minimal i admit....
And travel - love cities - Berlin, Prague, Paris, NY for culture and vibe with a mix of sailing, cross country skying and coastal walking.
