Lovely place, plenty of room, and a great base to go out and do things from during the day.

This Old Church in Rishangles feels unique and special. The approach towards it, up the track through the wooded grounds, opening up to an abundance of climber roses hugging the stone facade in dappled sunlight, took my breath away. The solidity of the materials lending it a wonderful tactility, as we unbolted the doors. The warmth from the Aga was welcoming and cosy, against the grandeur of the medieval windows, vibrant with the outline of coloured stained glass. The kitchen was enlivened by views to the trampoline and our happy group of children. The living room a few wide steps down beyond was a delight too, with piano, table football and very high ceiling, windows to three sides and a mezzanine accessed by very narrow winding stone steps from the kitchen, adding to the drama of the spaces. The bedrooms vary considerably in character. The first floor room has a large double bed and single with a window akin to the kitchen, so high that one of the rooms on the second floor shares the window by way of a mezzanine. This room has a double and a single bed. Across the main stair landing is the third and largest room with two grand beds and a cot (which cannot be easily moved to another room because it does not fit though the door). Furthermore it has an on suite toilet and open plan sunken bath under a skylight. Access to the tower from the main stair landing is flanked by a room with a bath and sink on one side and a toilet and large sink on the other, both lit by skylights. Upwards the journey is via a contemporary timber spiral stair past a third floor bedroom of two single beds, which has a monastic quality set in the adjacent old tower. At the top of the the new glazed tower is an outdoor balcony with glass block floor which links across to the old tower stocked library of books, for various age ranges, centered by a steep glazed stair with a tech handrails going up to a viewing chamber with windows each side. For the brave there is a steep wooden stepladder up to a heavy trapdoor that opens onto the roof. Spectacular overview the property and wooded grounds but beware the pitch of the roof and low parapets. The fifth room with beds is the living room, which has two sofas that are wide enough to be single beds. There is also a grand fireplace, low table, another sofa, tv and dvds in this room which we didn't use being summer. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed meals cooked on the Aga in the kitchen with its various lighting modes. Well stocked with plates and glasses in an old timber cabinet with dishwashers, fridge facilities and space it was a joy to be in. Another night we ate outside at the large dining table followed by lounging by the outside wood burner, stargazing and chatting....

Our entire group were completely blown away with how beautiful this church is as well as the grounds in which it is set. There was space enough for all 14 of us to comfortably spend the weekend without stepping on eachothers toes, but intimate enough when we all wanted to be together. The kitchen and living areas were perfectly sized, well equipped with everything you could need and very warm (heating was certainly not a problem anywhere!) Whilst all the bedrooms were also extremely comfortable. All in all the perfect setting for a weekend away. Would highly recommend.

The most breathtaking and unique venue. It felt really magical. I recieved a PDF from Laura with extensive information, directions and instructions etc. It was very helpful and everything was covered. The property was lovely and clean, the beds super comfy, and we didn't feel that we had any issue with privacy / room allocating etc. We were lucky to be blessed with glorious sunshine and spent our days in the garden which was perfect. The kitchen had everything (and more) that we needed, and evening was easy to find. If staying in the summer I would suggest you take along citronella / bug repellant as we all got quite bitten outside in the garden. No reflection on the host or the property, just the time of year and something for future summer bookings to consider. There were people visiting the graves on Sunday morning but thery were very friendly/chatty and were asking us how we enjoyed our stay etc. One group of girls spent all weekend searching for the "secret billiard room" that we had read about on reviews and in the guest book. We found lots of hidden nooks and crannies and gems, but we were unfruitful in our search for this particular thing! We felt we had value for money and Rishingles church will be talked about amongst our girl gang forever more. Thank you!

Wow what an amazing place! I celebrated my 30th birthday at Rishangles Old Church and it was a weekend I will never forget. Such a beautiful and unique setting to explore and it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipt and there were plenty of activities indoor and out to keep us entertained.. badminton, boules, trampoline, table tennis, board games, piano and a huge gas BBQ ! Would thoroughly recommend this place and I would love to go back one day! Thankyou so much for having us.

Absolutely incredible place. The building is staggering and has loads of different spaces to explore. The garden is also amazing, beautiful in the sun, lots of space to sit and has a great bbq. Views from the tower are lovely! We had a brilliant time, I'd highly recommend the church!

A really special place, wonderful to explore inside and out. We had a family weekend there, celebrating my parents' 70th birthdays and it was perfect. Great views from the top, footpaths from the door and near to the Suffolk coast for crabbing! The turning to it is easy to miss (especially in the dark) - if the Baptist church is on your left (on the road to Debenham), then the turning is immediately after it on the right).
