Centrally located between Union Square & Chelsea, this newly renovated home features the furnishings and appointments of a luxury hotel suite with the comfort, convenience and quiet of a luxury apartment. Modern. Minimalist. Zen. Quiet. Open.
This beautiful modern 725 sq ft. pre-war apartment is located just 2 blocks from Union Square in the heart of fashionable Chelsea. There are SO MANY wonderful cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, galleries, nightlife and attractions in and around the neighborhood you'll want to walk everywhere. But when you need to jump into the subway the 1, 2, 3, F, M, and L trains are only 75 ft. away.
The apartment is on a high floor of a well maintained elevator building with laundry machines in the basement. The apartment has recently been gut-renovated and features polished hardwood floors, high ceilings, windows in every room, and a brand new gourmet eat-in kitchen with black formica counters, stainless steel designer appliances, Italian-ivory stone tiled floors, mid-century Danish modern table and chairs, as well as the small but important details like raw sugar, sea salt, pepper, olive oil, vegetable oil, over 20 different spices, a French press, a Pur filtered water pitcher, oven mitts, cookware, baking trays, large salad bowl, chef's knife set, etc...
The open and spacious living room features a gorgeous Crate & Barrel fold out sleeper sofa with a brand new memory foam mattress, a comfortable West Elm lounge chair, an alpaca wool throw blanket, and a home office desk, chair and lamp. All lights in the apartment are on dimmers (we love that) and the wireless internet is ultra high speed (100mb/sec download speed) with a strong signal in every room. You'll also have use of a cordless "home phone." If you're in from overseas, making and receiving calls from this phone will save you a lot of money vs international roaming charges and pay as you go local sim cards. You can also make free international calls to most countries with the home phone.
The living room also has a brand new 65" LED Smart TV with a sound bar that also has bluetooth, so you can play your phone or tablet's music (or Pandora/Spotify) through the sound bar for great sound quality. The Smart TV has a variety of Cable channels (CNN, BBC, MTV, ESPN, movie channels) as well as built in ROKU for even more channels (Netflix, PBS, Hulu, HBO, etc..)
The bedroom has 2 windows and double-exposure so soft light fills the room all day. The Danish-modern queen size bed frame has a 6 month old Serta memory foam mattress that is on the firm side and gives excellent support for your back. You'll appreciate the hotel quality 1200 thread count sheets and designer tufted duvet cover, as well as 4 of the best pillows you will ever sleep on. Forget about overstuffed pillows that strain your neck or flat pillows that offer little if any support. These orthopedic pillows are specifically designed for side and stomach sleepers and you will love them. Some people like to sleep with a bit of air circulation in the room, so there's a khoa wood ceiling fan with a light that dims and it's own dedicated smart switch. You also have 3 massive closets in the bedroom as well as a luggage rack for those of us who prefer to live out of our suitcases ;)
The bathroom has a full bathtub with shower (and the water pressure is excellent!) You also have hotel quality towels and a hair dryer.
Then there are the other details like large umbrellas, iron, ironing board, lots of hangers, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, cleaning supplies, etc...
***Please note, like most hosts in NYC, for privacy concerns I don't list my exact address online. My apartment is a few blocks from the listed address and is given at time of booking.
Entire apartment as well as the laundry room in the basement.
Interaction with guests
I travel often for work, so if I'm not available to get you situated in the apartment my assistant will be.
Other things to note
Because many people ask:
1. Payment- You “submit a booking" which means you pay the full amount now. I do not get paid until after your arrival. There are no cash transactions, and unfortunately you may not put down a deposit.
2. The apartment comes with linens, towels, soaps, trash bags, cleaning supplies, etc.
3. The site blocks telephone numbers so please do not send me your number and ask me to call you.
4. Picture ID (Passport/Driver's License) will be required prior to check-in and I only accept VERIFIED members with previous/positive guest reviews.
5. Check in and check out are SOMETIMES flexible, depending if I have a booking before or after your stay. If I don't, I'm happy to allow you to check out a few hours later, or store your bags in the apartment while it's being cleaned. Please inquire.
6. The address listed is not the exact address of the building. For privacy concerns the exact location will be shared with guests upon booking. The building is aprox 2 blocks from the address listed above.
There are a few basic obligations you will be expected to honor during your stay. Please remember that this is my home and I have neighbors that need to be respected. Please treat my home as you would have guests treat yours.
This is a NO SMOKING building and apartment. If you want to smoke please go outside at least 20ft from the entrance of the building. No smoking on the fire escape or out the window. This is not my rule it's the law here in NYC. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The apartment has beautiful hard wood floors and out of respect to the neighbors who live below please take off your shoes when you enter. This is especially true for HARD SOLED SHOES which sounds like hammering to my downstairs neighbors.
Gatherings of 4 or more people in the apartment must be approved in advance.
This is a very quiet building (which is one of the reasons you'll love the apartment) so please respect my wonderful neighbors. No loud music or TV volume (especially in the evening hours,) no shouting/yelling, and please keep your voice down in the hallways, elevator and public spaces.
Recycling is the law in NYC. In the kitchen there are 3 trashcans (each labeled) to help you recycle. One is for trash (food, plastic wrapping, things that can't be recycled.) Another is for paper and the 3rd is for glass and plastic containers that can be recycled. If a recyclable container has food in it, please throw out the food before throwing the container in the bin. Please remove the trash regularly. Trash bags are under the sink. The trash receptacles are in the basement (to the left when you get off the elevator.)
Please use the trash can for any GREASE (from cooking bacon for example), EGG SHELLS and COFFEE GRINDS. All of these things can block the pipes and cause plumbing issues.
Please don't flush tampons and feminine products down the toilet or you will block the pipes. There is a trash can in the bathroom for that purpose.
I encourage you to enjoy my home. I'm a professional traveler so I've personally rented or been a guest in over a hundred apartments and private homes around the world, so I get it. But if excessive noise or neighbor complaints are reported, or if a neighbor smells smoke coming from the apartment, or sees you leaning out the window to smoke, you will forfeit your deposit and be asked to vacate the apt. Fortunately this has never happened so please don't be the first.
