The space

This spacious studio on the second floor with kitchenette and bathroom has two beds, one double and one single size bed. It is an invitation to rest and relax and enjoy your time at our colorful Agave Azul Guest House with a pool, a community kitchen, and plenty space to hang out in.

Guest access

Swimming pool (not heated in winter, refreshing in summer); Wi-Fi; a community kitchen with space both in the fridge and for dry goods, featuring a stove, blender, toaster oven, coffee maker, plus silverware, dishes, and pots and pans; and two hammocks, a swing, and several sofas to lounge in.

Interaction with guests

Both Annette and I (your hosts in the winter - in summer only one of us is around) live on the premises, and take turns being available to our guests, usually from 9 AM till noon

Other things to note

We offer no TV and no Air Conditioning units, but each room has 2 or 3 fans, depending on its size.

Mexico is an auditory feast on so many levels.

There are street vendors driving thru town blasting their wares via speakers tied onto their car roofs, offering everything from drinking water to vegetables and fruits to mattresses.

There are dogs barking everywhere, or rooster crowing, or Mexican cowboy music playing from across the street, sometimes at 2 am in the morning.

There are the Mexican holidays such as Semana Santa (or Holy Week), Independence Day. or Cinquo de Mayo with opportunities to experience celebrations a la Mexico.

We have a bar right behind the property (between us and the marina) called "Ana Banana’s", offering food and music on most Friday, Sunday, and Monday nites. They play loud music from about 7 to about 10:30 pm or later. It is good music, rock and roll, blue grass, or country tunes, but it is loud.

Our way for us to deal with it is either to go over and dance till we are tired, or close all windows, when we go to bed and open them later, when the music stops.

Blessing the noise, no matter what, works best for me. Some guest sleep better by using ear plugs (we do have them available...).

If you are very sensitive to noises, the Mexican noise levels might be an issue.

The Agave Azul is not a hotel, but a guest house with a mix of longterm residents and short term guests.
Thank you for respecting the privacy of the residents.

Our intention for this guest house is a (mostly) drug and alcohol free place. We don’t mind an occasional bottle of wine or a beer for dinner, but this is not a party house. There are a lot of options to party in the neighborhood bars.

You can only smoke in the designated area for smokers across form AnaBanana's on the oceanside of the kitchen terrace, or in front of your room, if other guests are not bothered by it.
No smoking please in your rooms, your bathrooms, and in the shared kitchen.

Guests cannot bring their pets to stay with them at the Agave Azul.

People like to use the balustrades (all upstairs rooms) and green railings (downstairs rooms) to dry towels, bathing suits, and hand washed clothes.
DO: You are welcome to dry towels and bathing suits in front of your rooms.
DON'T: Please use the clotheslines on end of the upstairs red deck for all the clothes (especially underwear) you would like to dry.

Thank you for being such respectful and wonderful guests...

It was a totally different experience due to the fact that we interacted with people from several nationalities. Everyone very kind and attentive. In general the place fit our needs.

Agave Azul was an incredible surprise! The house is huge, with several rooms and a very nice common area - pool, kitchen and a cool space with hammocks and sofas. Despite having other rooms, privacy is total. It was very nice to meet the other guests there. Anette, each responsible for the house, lovely. She helped us with all our questions and was always on hand. I would definitely stay there again!

Response from Ulla:
We were impressed by how much Wendell and his partner enjoyed our place. They really loved to sit on the couch :) and hang out or do internet for hours. We nearly named it the Brazilian corner in their honor. And Wendell's sense of humor was really fun... We also very much appreciated, how easily they were able to establish heartfelt connections with all of us staying here at the Agave Azul. Annette & Ulla
