Charming B&B in a typically auvergnate stone house built in 1781, between Vallée du Lot and Auvergne's Volcans' region, surrounded by the green hills
of Sout Ouest Cantal, less than 2 km from the village of Marcolès, a small medieval jewel.

The space

Alessandro and Camilla, two Italians who fell in love with France, invite you to come and relax at La Clairière, a stone house dating from 1781. If you are visiting the area, Marcoles is the ideal starting point, with the possibility of beautiful walks and tours by car in the surrounding area and visit remarkable sites such as Conques (35 km) and Figeac (45 km). But La Clairière is also the ideal place for those who want to devote themselves to 'dolce far niente', read a book, sleep or 'listen to the silence' before a panorama as-far-as-the-eye-can-see on the hills of Southwest Cantal, Lot and Corrèze.

Our double room has a double bed (160x200) and direct access to a bathroom with tub and shower, sink and toilet. From the window you can admire beautuful view on the hills.

A very pretty, cleverly restored space in attractive countryside, but restricted height and width of the bedroom make it difficult to recommend for everyone. Lower price might make it more attractive. Nice breakfast. Camilla willing and friendly, but there were communication issues over the timing of our arrival and the readiness of the room, no doubt due to exceptional circumstances. A general tip to owners: guests may not always have access to instant internet and phone connections when they're travelling. Too many messages and rearrangements can be counter-productive - better to make a simple arrangement in advance and keep to it as far as possible.

We are very frequent visitors to the Cantal and branched out this time by staying with another family rather than alone. The risk paid off in many ways for us. Our 3 year old loved the grounds and was instantly welcomed by the two young children. And both Camilla and Alessandro were exceptionally kind and thoughtful throughout our stay. We would love to return at some point to this beautiful part of the world and to this charming home.

Loved our stay with Camilla and Alessandro. The house is lovely with great country views and shared a beautiful sunset. We had dinner with them which Alessandro prepared and was delicious. Definitely would stay again when we are hopefully back in this region.

I had a wonderful time staying with Camilla and Alessandro. The house is absolutely beautiful, and our room was so comfortable and clean. Even though my friend and I got lost on the way to the house, and there were some last minute changes to our plans, Camilla was very flexible, and helped us make new arrangements. We appreciated this so much. Even though we were only able to stay for a short time, my traveling companion and I agreed that our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip to France. This is a real bed and breakfast; so, in the morning, we got a wonderful breakfast with the other guests of the house. This was so charming! Camilla made fresh pastries, with delicious homemade jam. After breakfast, we spent some time in the beautiful garden in the back of the house, and then my friend and I walked to the village of Marcoles, which was very picturesque. The atmosphere was so calm and peaceful. I felt like I could think clearly, here. I would recommend staying here with all my heart. Thank you so much, Camilla and Alessandro! I want to return someday, soon.
