The Maple Cottage is located in the Historic Mississippi district of Portland. It offers a full kitchen, bedroom and generous dining room table that doubles as a work area. Just outside, is a small patio great for enjoying the garden. Restaurants and pubs are just a step away. Let's not forget Blue Star donuts!
Downtown Portland is just a short distance and our city is widely known for it's excellent transit system. Bikes are available for rent just a few blocks away.
Welcome to our home!
If you would enjoy a central location in Portland with easy access to downtown, the Pearl, Alberta Arts and Forest Park, consider our charming, art filled house. We are a comfortable, fun lesbian couple with an adorable Maltese poodle (hypoallergenic) and we enjoy sharing our knowledge of Portland. After sight-seeing, relax beneath the beautiful canopy of the big leaf maple with our "Wild in the City" guide. There's nothing like a home away from home!
You'll enjoy the detached guest cottage set under a sweeping Maple tree, dotted with ferns and flowers. Have a glass of wine sitting on your own patio with a privacy screen that separates you from our main house and deck. The private entrance opens onto an alley just a few feet away from all the fun businesses of the Historic Mississippi district!

We are a long term couple who have made Portland our home for over 20 years. The beauty of this place continues to knock our socks off! Getting out to hike, bike or kayak is a natural draw for us. Picnicking on the Wahclella Falls trail or kayaking on Lost Lake with Mt. Hood shining in the distance are favorite places. When we get home we can walk to a nearby Thai bistro, Monsoon and pick up some Pumpkin Curry. And there's also pizza and beer at the Kennedy School movie house. We love to walk out the door and wander down historic Mississippi Avenue for breakfast -- crepes at FlapJak or creme brulee oatmeal at Gravy. Maybe we'll catch one of the seasonal events there like the Mardi Gras parade, Mississippi Street Fair or the Naked Bike Ride.
But we also love hanging with friends or watching one of our favorite Netflix shows like 'Miss Fisher's Mystery Theatre'. I'm currently semi-retired and Marilyn is fully retired as of October 2016. We have plenty of time to welcome folks to our charming cottage and be available as needed. Chances are we can answer your questions or point you in the right direction.
Our motto is JAFA, Baby! (when you meet us, ask us what it means!)
