Kimbercote is an old farmstead nestled in the heart of the Beaver Valley with the famous Bruce Trail running right through the property. Kimbercote is perfectly suited to larger groups (families, organization retreats, outdoors clubs etc..) as it can accommodate large numbers with 11 bedrooms (21 beds total). Kimbercote boasts stunning views of the Beaver Valley and Georgian Bay and is a short 10 minute drive to the picturesque town of Thornbury and 20 minutes from the Blue Mountains ski hill.
Kimbercote is an old farmstead located in the heart of the Beaver Valley in the Unesco designated Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve. Kimbercote boasts stunning views of the Beaver Valley and Georgian Bay and is a short 10 minute drive to the picturesque town of Thornbury to the North and Kimberly to the South. The Bruce Trail runs directly alongside the property and the Beaver River is a stones throw away. The Blue Mountains ski hill is about a 20 minute drive from Kimbercote and Georgian Bay is 10 minutes away as well. The farmhouse has been renovated with new floors on most of the main level. The facility lends itself well to groups that are looking for a unique getaway with friends and family or larger groups or professional retreats. There is a large open kitchen area with two large dining tables that could seat up to 12 people each. The living room has a cozy fireplace and there are lots of games that can be used by guests. There is also a sauna that is available for use by the guests by request.
You will have access to the common areas such as the kitchen, main bathroom and the living room where the fireplace is.

Other things to note
If you want to book the entire space on weekends you will need to pay the minimum whole facility charge of $1100.00 for weekends - this includes a 2 day rental and can accommodate up to 12 people. A charge of $75 per person will apply to groups larger than 12. Additional nights will be charged at a rate of $450 per night for the original group up to 12 people.
If you want to book the entire space on weekdays you will need to pay the minimum whole facility charge of $540.00 - this includes a 2 day rental and can accommodate up to 12 people. A charge of $50 per person will apply to groups larger than 12. Additional nights will be charged at a rate of $250 per night for the original group up to 12 people.

Kimbercote is a retreat centre for families, organizations and groups that want to get away and enjoy a secluded and scenic setting to unwind and relax or use the facility as a springboard for outdoor adventure. Kimbercote is run by Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach (a charity) for children's programs, youth at risk programs, unique cultural programs and more. Our rentals help support the charitable work we at Kimbercote and across Canada, as well as in India and Africa.
Our onsite caretaker (that lives in a separate building approximately 500 ft away) will monitor noise levels and make sure our house rules are followed.
Any loud noise after 10pm will be considered a breach of our house rules at which point we reserve the right to cancel your remaining nights without a refund and claim the security deposit if any damages have occurred.
-You are charged according to the number of people that you book the facility for. If you have more people than you planned, you will be required to pay the difference at the same per person per night rate that was charged for the original booking.
- In an attempt to keep the rates low we ask that guests clean up after themselves and notify us of anything that we are missing or that breaks during their stay. If guests choose to have a fire while they are at Kimbercote they MUST EXTINGUISH THE FIRE IF LEFT UNATTENDED and must check that there is not a fire ban in place.
-All items used at campfire pit must be cleaned up thoroughly.
-Please take ALL your food with you when you leave and make sure the fridge is COMPLETELY cleaned out.
-Please make sure the bbq propane tank is turned off prior to leaving.
-Please do not enter any other buildings onsite as they are not included in the rental.
-You will be responsible for damage to the facility and ask that you are honest about any accidents that occur. As a charity we are not out to collect extra money from you for this purpose, rather we just want to replace or repair items at cost.
What we provide:
-Linens for beds unless you want to save some $ and bring your own.
-Toilet Paper and Paper Towel
-Dish soap for the kitchen and hand soap bathrooms
-Propane - we will provide 1 full tank of propane for your use. Please be aware of turning off the bbq after each use.
What you must bring/do yourself:
-Bathroom linens and supplies (towels, shampoo, toiletries etc..)
-Food for your stay
-Put provided bedding on your own bed
Extra cost items we can provide:
-Catered meals - we will arrange this for you based on your budget and dietary needs.
-Ask about our available guided activities such as: guided hikes, guided paddling down the beaver river
Extra fees will be charged for:
-$25 if BBQ not cleaned after use
-$25 fee if recycling not sorted before you leave (do not put plastics in the garbage - we are allowed 3 garbage bags per week so recyclables must be put in recycling bins as marked)
-$10 fee for each bag of garbage beyond the 3 bag limit
-$20 fee for dishes left dirty and uncleaned in/by the sink
-$30 fee if apartment key is not returned
-Extra fees will be incurred if the facility is left unreasonably dirty. This will be charged at a rate of $30 hour for extra cleaning.
Please feel free to use everything in the kitchen, we just ask that you clean up after yourself and bag your garbage before you leave:
-Clean rooms, bathrooms
-Garbage/recycling bagged and left in garbage dumpster in parking area)
-Fridge completely cleaned out
Kimbercote operates more like a serve yourself bed and breakfast type facility. There are 11 bedrooms with different bedding configurations and the kitchen and living room are common spaces that are accessible by all overnight guests. The low rates we are able to offer reflect the fact that the facility is a serve yourself style centre that provides users with a comfortable and affordable location that is nestled in a breathtaking landscape for those that enjoy hiking, paddling, biking, cross country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing and more.
If groups are looking for their stay to be catered, this can easily be arranged. Please contact us for further information in this regard. We also offer a number of onsite guided programs and activities for guests such as outdoor excursions, astronomy nights, guided hikes on local flora and fauna or more adventure based programs such as survival training, orienteering, navigation and more.
Guests can bring their own bedding to reduce the cost of their rental, but must notify the host about this when booking to receive the discount. There is a large kitchen that is fully equipped with two stoves, a large fridge, plenty of counter space for those foodies out there and all that is needed in the way of dish and cooking ware for large groups. There are also two bbq's available for your use and a variety of comfortable deck furniture.
