Guest access

Guests will have total access to this 300sf space, including the bathroom, kitchen, loft, and living room area.

The only shared access is on occasional Saturday mornings our next gathering is 3/18. Our biggest passion for this space is people & building community - so a group of us in NE Portland run a coffee bar out of this space 2 Saturdays a month, from 9am to 11, and we invite you to be a part of it!

We just ask that you allow us into the space at 9am to do a quick prep before we serve YOU and our neighbors and friends some of Portland's best coffee & pastries! Cheers! Ask us if you have any more questions!

The whole loft is yours for your stay and completely self-sustainable! There is a private entrance you will have a key to.

The only thing shared will be the driveway and patio. Please park on the street only.

You'll have access to the front patio (shared) and if you'd like to have it to yourself for a romantic or quiet dinner - we'd love to make that happen if we can :) - theres chairs and a table you can use too (spring/summer/fall)!

Interaction with guests

We will do our absolute best to make you feel at home by offering you a safe & comfortable place to rest, plan your vacation or get some work done!

Whether that means you stepping into our slice of Portland life as we introduce you to our favorite sights, local spots, and hopefully our favorite people too - or just follow some of the recommendations we give you - You will see Portland through an awesome lens.

We love to welcome guests and learn a bit of their stories, as well as share with them about us, the neighborhood, and overall experience of living in NE Portland!

We do the above by usually sharing a coffee or tea with our guests :) so let us know if you would like tea, or a fresh pourover coffee (many times roasted by colin) in the morning and if our schedules can line up - awesome!

Since you'll have your own private entry to the place so we won't always see each other. You can have as much interaction as you'd like to have with us we just ask that during the work weeks our guests can respect our space as one of us is usually working from home. We love to live busy & active lives so sometimes you'll hear about an estate sale, a concert or something fun!

We will likely be at home during your stay so we can make sure it goes as smooth as possible, but we will be very aware of making sure you have privacy and enjoy your stay! A great way to make this happen is by keeping your door closed to the upstairs :)

We know all the local coffee bars, fresh markets, places to walk, eat, and everything else. We will be as little involved or as much involved as you want us to be, just tell us!

Other things to note

As you see in the photos, Colin and Sarah put a ton of detailed work into this addition to their home. Although it's a compact loft spot, it felt very spacious for my friend and I. He in the loft and I on the sofa pullout bed. I loved being out in this residential neighborhood. It was really quiet and easy going and we were walking distance to a couple of really great strips of stellar food and drink offerings. We also had a car and took trips into Portland and Vancouver, but you could get by without one especially if using lyft/uber.

We felt very lucky to find Colin + Sarah's birch loft. It's a sweet industrial-chic spot that's filled with Portland-crafted wares. There is lighting by Schoolhouse Electric, blankets from Pendleton, and lots of cozy curated touches, magazines, coffee, indoor succulents, and very plush bath towels. It feels a bit like you are living on a Kinfolk photo set, and it's no wonder their home was used for a Schoolhouse Electric catalog shoot! The birch walls are warm and inviting and the perfect foil to the polished concrete floors. The space might have once been a garage. But with lots of handcrafted details, it feels like a Scandinavian-inspired pre fab. At night, lights illuminate from the bottom of the floating walls for a bewitching jewel box effect. It is so cozy and enchanting! In the bathroom, the rainfall shower is the main draw. It is just as serene and rejuvenating as you might imagine. Another lovely feature in the bath is the mix of hexagon and chevron pattern tiles. My husband and I were very jealous that they have a French drain. I wish the hosts could design my bathroom! We also admired the home's use of space. The bed is perched on a loft. It feels cozy and is well lit by a skylight. The loft bed does require a ladder to access. Only the sure footed should stay here. Although there isn't a closet, there are plenty of hooks in the living room space and built-in shelves in the bathroom and kitchen. We travel light, and so didn't mind. The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood. About 15 minutes walking from a lively bar scene. The 72 bus line is also nearby and it goes to the Alberts Arts district. We opted to walk to NE Alberta St., and it took about 30 minutes. We do recommend getting a car. We didn't realize Portland was so spread out! The hosts, Sarah and Colin are thoughtful and sweet. They are wonderful with communication and lightening quick on text! On the day of our arrival, they kindly let us checkin early and there was a vase of fresh-cut ranunculus on the kitchen counter. You won't regret booking this loft, especially if you're looking for an authentic slice of Portland living.

If you're looking for a place in Portland, stop looking!! Colin + Sarah's was absolutely perfect. I'm in love with the tiny home movement so I was so excited to stay in one for my first time. Theirs is actually much more spacious than I was expecting. It felt like 4 separate spaces - bedroom, bath, kitchen, living space. The home was spotless and modern. Colin + Sarah's communication was wonderful and they quickly responded to every message I sent. Thank you so much for everything guys!!! If I decide to build, I'll be reaching out. :D

After living on a boat for three years my girlfriend and I are used to living in small spaces, but staying in this tiny house really showed what can be done with a small space. The design is clean and modern with sense of openness and luxury. The shower is fantastic, and surprisingly no part of the space ever felt small! Come check it out, you'll love it.

Very nice, clean and wonderfully designed space in the NE of Portland. Very close to the Alberta Arts district with plenty of bars, restaurants, galleries and coffee shops. But it is also situated in a quiet and walkable neighborhood. Lovely and accommodating hosts :)

Oh hi there! We are Colin & Sarah!

We absolutely love hosting, traveling & the opportunity that airbnb gives for us to see the world, meet incredible people like you, and have unforgettable experiences. We've been hosting for three years! Our approach to hosting is all about good relationships, good design, and a love for life. We look forward to the chance to meet you :) send us a message if you have any questions!

Our last few years of travel include our month in Europe, weeks exploring North and South Island New Zealand, a cultural study of Israel, documentary shoots in Zimbabwe, Uganda, and India. A long awaited family safari in Kenya, and more shoots in Ireland, China, and Mexico, a road trip around Australia with a first time diving experience at the Great Barrier Reef, and a getaway to Cape Town, South Africa.

We have a heart for thoughtful questions, well-crafted coffee, life on the go, new places, and creativity. We are creatives & storytellers working in digital and analog mediums.

Hotel concierge's are let's face it, out of date, and don't really tell you more than you can find on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). Friends help you know a city like the back of your hand, they help you find those places that will leave a mark on your heart. Let us stay in your place and we will surely be friends! Let us host you and you'll be back soon enough wanting to visit again! We love the airbnb community because it's a really special way to get to know a city.
