Description

The space

Renovated, 800 sq foot basement apartment in historic home with perfect location for access to all things Boulder - away from the students but close to the action. Complete with a snug, full quirky bathroom (what would you expect in a 1920's home?), dining area and separate sitting area, 1 bedroom w/plush queen bed, comfy sofa w/ extension in living room. A third person can be accommodated with another section extended off the sofa.

Guest access

The suite has it's own private entrance. Parking is readily available right outside and we provide parking passes for all of guests. Washer and dryer available for your use. Guests are welcome to enjoy our large private garden with pergola, chaise lounges, umbrellas, dining tables and grill. Feel free to enjoy your breakfast and newspaper on a morning or a glass of wine while grilling dinner.

Interaction with guests

We are glad to interact as much or as little as our guests desire - it is your time! Rick and Jaclyn, with their over 22 years in Colorado and Boulder, can answer any questions and provide suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants and activities. If they don't have the answer, they'll find out. During the summer Rick and Jaclyn will often share a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres outside with guests on the patio.

The neighbourhood

Our 1921 home harks back to a time in Boulder fast disappearing. We are located in the University Hill Historic District, and surrounded by homes of the bungalow era in Boulder but within a 10 minute walk of the gorgeous Flatirons located at the base of Flagstaff Mountain ( a popular and challenging bike ride to the top.) Our backyard is beautifully landscaped and peaceful. Nestled under the wisteria covered pergola, the draping lights add a European ambiance for drinks/dining on a warm summer's night - or the crispness of a fall or winter night. When the weather is warm, a water feature provides that hint of a peaceful mountain stream.

Getting around

We are 3 blocks away from the main bus line that circumnavigates the city (and our neck of the woods) - and takes you to the central bus station where buses for Denver and surrounding areas depart from. You can also pick up the Hop or Skip which drops you 2 blocks from the house. No car needed from our location- you can walk or bike anywhere on the extensive bike paths and there are plenty of B-bike stations throughout the Hill and the city. World class dining, twice weekly Farmer's Markets, Shakespeare Festival (all these summer and fall), road races, a bustling Pearl St. Mall and a plethora of other cultural and athletic events keeps Boulder lively and we are within 3 hours of world class skiing.

Other things to note

We have a Weimaraner dog and 2 Burmese cats that are never allowed in or on the guest floor - but pats are appreciated should you run into any of them.

House Rules
No smoking
Check in is anytime after 3PM

We are a completely non-smoking home, cannabis friendly discretely outside. Since the suite is not set up for toddlers, we have had a few with prior approval to make sure we are all on the same page. As a residential neighborhood, we keep things low key - so quiet get togethers with friends are OK, but loud parties into the wee hours aren't. No pets without prior approval. By staying at our suite, you agree to the terms of a simple rental agreement - a copy provided upon request.

This is a beautiful home with easy access to trails in a historic neighborhood. The living area separate from the bedroom was perfect for us to relax in after exploring the town and trails. Richard and his wife were very welcoming and made us feel at home. It was the perfect accommodation for the quiet weekend we wanted.

We've stayed at Rick's apartment before so we knew what to expect. It's like visiting old friends. The layout of the apartment is comfortable, and Rick is the friendliest of hosts. We especially liked being able to walk to the CU campus for graduation instead of fighting traffic.

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore Boulder's trails and enjoy all that the city has to offer. We enjoyed walking to the trails in Chautaqua Park and beyond. Richard and Jaclyn's place is comfortable and they are very kind hosts. I would happily stay here on a future trip to Boulder!

Richards place was great, it was essentially a 1.5 bedroom with a 3/4 bath, overall it was awesome and perfect for our quick stay. It slept 3 bigger guys and could have held 1 more. A steal for the price especially short notice. I'm not sure who is more chill, the hosts or their dog. We had a great stay, thanks Richard!
