Ashtrees Cottage is in a beautiful rural location and has Loch Leven Nature Reserve on its door step. The Balgedie Toll Tavern & Levens Larder both less than 10 minutes walk from the Cottage. Its a great place to explore towns and villages around the East Neuk of Fife, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Gleneagles, Stirling and Glasgow all within 60 minute drive. Its a great place to base yourself if you are planning to explore the Lowlands and Southern Highlands of Scotland.

The space
It's a former school house for farm children in the local area, dating back to 1760 but it has all the modern conveniences needed to give you a relaxing holiday. The living area is on the first floor with wonderful views from all the windows overlooking the Lomond Hills and Ochil Hills and beautiful countryside with big skies over Loch Leven. There is a modern kitchen including dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. A wood burning stove, smart TV and Wi-Fi. The ground floor has a modern bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. The main bed room has a king-sized bed and the second bedroom a "bespoke built "adult sized bunk-bed . The cottage will welcome you and wrap itself around you keeping you warm and cosy. In the cooler month the wood burning stove adds another dimension to relaxing. The small garden is fully enclosed. There is a utility area in the garage with washing machine and dryer and can be used as extra secure storage for bikes etc.

There private parking for two cars in front of the cottage.

Other things to note
The cottage is all electric. The central heating runs on an electric boiler and the hot water comes from a pressurised hot water tank, two separate systems.

Logs will be provide for the wood-burner.

Neighbourhood highlights

The road through the hamlet is used mainly for access and is very quiet. You may like to walk to Loch Levens Larder which has a restaurant, café, delicatessen and gift shop or take a leisurely stroll to the local Balgedie Toll for a bar meal.
A short, easy walk will take you to the village of Kinnesswood with a shop, garage, 9 hole golf course. there are numerous walks and trails which you can access directly from the cottage. For the more adventurous, a short drive takes you to Kinross on the shores of Loch Leven, there are boat trips around the loch and to Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was famously held prisoner in 1567.
Explore the East Neuk of Fife fishing villages, Anstruther, Crail or visit world famous St Andrews which is only 40 minutes by car or perhaps Gleneagles for afternoon tea. Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Perth, Stirling and Glasgow are all within easy reach by car.

Hi, we are Maggie and Michael. We've lovingly upgraded and redecorated our country cottage so travelers both close and further afield can come and experience a romantic, relaxing break. There's plenty to do around Loch Leven to make your stay unforgettable. The cottage is situated in the heart of the home of golf with the world famous Old Course and Gleneagles within a short drive.
