Outstanding hospitality
7 recent guests complimented Jeanne-Marie for outstanding hospitality.
Sitting on the edge of 87 acres of wild land, our Back-House is nestled between woodlands and one of Skye's oldest historic homes. Accommodates up to 4. Couples, friends and families with children of all ages are welcome.

Guests are free to explore the estate and to enjoy the breath-taking views of landscape and nature, including otters and possibly, if you are very lucky, a dolphin or two.

The space
The Backhouse is a self-contained unit with two double bedrooms, a traditional bedroom (with a wonderful traditional bath; Himalayan bathsalts on tap), a galley-style kitchen (including washer/dryer) with a small dining area, a studio-sitting room with a big comfy sofa, small work table, a woodburner (and with a spiral staircase to the bedrooms upstairs) and access out to a back patio, to the back gardens of the main house and to the woods beyond.

There is a large and very well equipped Co-op in Broadford itself and there are a large number of restaurants in Broadford and the surrounding area. We are able to make recommendations for great local takeaways (see 'Neighbourhood' for some examples).

All shops and establishments are doing a great job on managing friendly but safe COVID protocols.

All of Skye is within easy reach, and Broadford and its restaurants are a 15 - 20 minute walk or a short drive away.

Guest access
You will have exclusive access to our Back-House with 2 double bedrooms, and period bathroom with a large cast iron bath, a galley style kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, stove, washing machine and dryer, and a studio lounge with a sofa, dining table and wood-burner.
We provide crisp white linen for all beds, bath towels and bath soap. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, utensils, plates, cups and cutlery - all the basics needed to prepare and serve meals. We also provide some complimentary supplies, including tea bags, a tea towel, dishwashing tablets and laundry powder.

Our guests have access to the 87 acres of the Corry estate, including wild land, an Atlantic woodland, fields, rolling hills and coastline.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, you can take out one of our complimentary kayaks.

Checkout is at 11am but you are welcome to enjoy the walks on our estate for as long as you like.

Free Wifi is available, and free parking as well.

Other things to note
If you are looking for seclusion and a distinctly highland experience on a wonderful coastal estate in a very quiet location, we would love to welcome you to the Backhouse.

Please be mindful, however, that this is a traditional property - the bathroom has a big bath (with hand-held, but not power, shower); there is no televisions or radio (guests are of course welcome to use their own tech).

There is a medical centre within Broadford as well as a hospital and helipad for any emergencies. (The helicopter is usually called upon to evacuate distressed mountaineers but is also available for all medical emergencies).

Location

Broadford, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Corry Estate is a wonderful neighbourhood of its own and offers great access to the wider islands and highlands.

On the estate, there are beautiful walks across land, up the hills at the back and along the shore. The sea can be seen from almost everywhere, with views across Broadford Bay to the islands of Pabay and Scalpay and to Applecross and the highlands. There are also wonderful views to the Cuillins, including Ben-na-Caillich and its Viking Princess' tomb.

The Lodge is within walking distance to the tranquil village of Broadford, with a small range of local shops and a wide range of restaurants, all now offering takeway. These include the Harbour Restaurant, Sia Away and Cafe Sia. (The Harbour Restaurant does wonderful seafood and paella, the Claymore does great traditional food, including haggis, fresh fish and sticky toffee pudding, Cafe Sia is particularly well known for its wood-fired pizza and Sia Away does fish and chips).

Walking and climbing are especially popular, with the beautiful Cuillins Mountains (black and red) dominating the local landscape. A wide array of other Islands and popular highland areas are within easy reach. There’s wonderful coastal scenery, trails with breathtaking views, abandoned villages to explore, and many other outdoor activities to enjoy. Photography and nature watching are also especially popular, with some wonderful birds and wildlife in the area. This includes otters, seals, dolphins, the magnificent while-tailed eagle (Britain’s largest bird of prey), and at times Orca whales, Whooper swans, Brent geese, and many other types of marine and bird life.

Guests arriving by boat or yacht can moor at nearby MacKinnon's Pier.

For those preparing to go on adventures or camp further afield, there is a large and very well-equipped Co-op nearby and a hardware store in nearby Kyle of Lochalsh.

The Highlands are doing a wonderful job of keeping everyone safe.
