Between Venice, Verona & the Dolomites. Enjoy sunshine & great views from the 3rd floor on all 3 sides :-) NB Admin supplement of 50 Euro for stays of less than 15 days & an optional supplement of 40 Euro for laundry which you can avoid by bringing your own bath towels, bed linen, tea towels & tablecloth.

Additional & Optional Charges:

Cleaning - £45 GBP/60 Euros is automatically added to your rental by AirBnB at the start of your stay.

Supplementary charges detailed above in the first paragraph are payable in Euros to our local agent managing agent Frigo Bettinado of Asiago:

About the Space
The apartment and the exterior and interior public areas of the apartment building have all been newly decorated. It is perfectly placed with meadows stretching out to pine forests at the southern end of the road. And walking north the main centre of the City of Asiago begins just 200 metres away. The flat faces south with balconies to the east and west so that it is circled in sunshine. Both the main entrance and off road car parking are below the balcony on the west side. The apartment is on the second floor so it benefits from beautiful views across the City of Asiago and across the east, south and west of the Altopiano.

Guest access
You will have exclusive use of the whole apartment, the surrounding garden, off street parking directly below the apartment and also of an underground garage. Natural daylight and cycling repair equipment make this garage ideal as a workshop for cyclists and other similar sports enthusiasts.

Other things to note
Additional days stay: These are payable to our local managing agent at the rate quoted on AirBnB for those dates, subject to availability and by agreement with at least 24 hours notice so we can rearrange cleaning.
Please note that heating in alpine areas like Asiago is expensive and represents a considerably large chunk of the daily rental fee! This is why summer bookings from June to July are comparatively cheap.

Location

Asiago, Veneto, Italy

The apartment is situated on a quiet private road on the southern edge of Asiago. Just a few minutes walk to the east is a street corner with an excellent local bakery and mini supermarket owned by our cousins and a green grocers. A little further on is the main promenade of the town with an excellent range of bars, shops and hotels. A few minutes walk to the west is an excellent wine retailer with good local wine literally on tap and a large cycling store and workshop. A little further on is the Ice Stadium, home of the national championship winning ice hockey team HC Asiago! We are very proud that our cousin Federico Benetti is in the first team. Watching the team play is a great night out. The vine brule is highly recommended along with thermal underwear!

I am a Londoner currently working in Naples with a hometown called Asiago in the Italian alps. The Asiago plateau or altopiano is a remarkable limestone island in the alps which is twice the size of Malta. I strongly recommend the writing of local author Mario Rigoni Stern because he captures a heady mix of real life, history, mountain culture and philosophy. In fact we have named our apartment there after a novel of his that features our maternal grandfather Nicola Zanotelli who was the landlord of a travelers hotel called the Ghertele in the Altopiano near the old pre-WWI border with Austria. Rigoni Stern's stripped down hyper realist style makes him a forerunner to Knausgaard. Although I love the UK I need my regular fix of pine scent, that special hug from relatives and our dry banter in Venetian dialect. Asiago is a holiday resort for Italians so I look forward to sharing its secrets with what my relatives call the 'Transalpini' from across the alps or where ever you may be coming from. Because I miss Asiago so much when I am in the UK and because I left my heart in Manchester in my late teens and twenties (cue the music of Joy Division and New Order and the culture they sprouted from) I have chosen Todmorden for my home in England. Tod is nestled in the Three Valleys or Upper Calder Valley of Calderdale in West Yorkshire but it is only 25 minutes by train from Manchester city centre. What's it like? Try this. Imagine the Northern Quarter in Manchester set in the Highlands of Scotland and seeping in kindness and creativity, with much cheaper prices! In Asiago and Todmorden there is something for everyone who appreciates that the best things in life cannot be reduced to commodities.
