Artisan is a truly charming place to stay. John's property is beautifully renovated and chock full of fun architectural touches. We visited with our two kids (3 year old and 6 month old) and had a wonderful time in Ballarat. Sovereign Hill, Larder at Daylesford, The Forge Pizzeria and a trip to Lake Wendouree (Adventure Playground, Vintage Tram ride and the Botanical Gardens) were all brilliant trips out. And with Artisan to welcome you home each evening, you could not ask for a better place from which to explore the area. Five stars all round.

John was incredibly welcoming and took a lot of trouble to make sure we had everything we wanted and gave us a comprehensive breakdown of what was available locally to see and do. The Artisan was superbly fitted and had everything that we could have wanted in our all too short stay.

This stylishly decorated heritage house is filled with curios to discover. The beds are super comfy with lots of blankets and doonas that, along with the fireplace and many heaters, will keep you toasty warm on the coldest nights. John is a fantastic host who was there to meet us with a friendly smile when we arrived and gave us a quick rundown of the house along with places to see and eat around town. Highly recommend a stay at this beautiful house, perfect for couples, families or friends.

Artisan is amazing, beyond my expectation. If you are worried about it costing a tad more than you have budgeted, DON’T, everyone needs to stay in this amazing space at least once! John, I adored meeting you and thank you

John's place was exactly as pictured and absolutely lovely. The cottage is in a great location not far from the centre of town and John was very welcoming. The tips he provided for places to see around town were really helpful. The beds are extremely comfortable, and warming up by the fireplace at the end of the day was a real treat. It really is a beautiful property with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The effort John has put into decorating the house made it feel both luxurious and homely. I'd highly recommend John's cottage if you're ever in Ballarat.
