Myself and two friends stayed at Jan and Kristina's hostel for 2 nights over the easter break and we loved our stay there! The rooms were clean and cosy, and we felt right at home. Jan and Kristina were away on holiday when we stayed but Neil, who we saw most, was very friendly and accommodating and even let us try some of his homemade mushroom soup! There is a cosy living room area on the first floor, with a real fire and a nice dinning room where you can relax and have cup of tea even once you have checked out. George the tabby cat was also a lovely addition and loved a wee cuddle!

It was very nice of them to let me in a little early from the check in time. The hosts were lovely and the location was fantastic! And very affordable. Their cat and dog were awesome too.

The KENDAL Hostel is a such a heart -warming and peaceful place! I met there lovely people and had a very wonderful time! Jan and Kristina are so open-minded, friendly and everytime smiling. Positive, funny, heart-warming.. I would recommend everyone to stay at the Hostel. The only thing I regret is that the time went on too much quickly so I didn't get enough time to enjoy more my stay! I also got a nice cup as gift in Souvenirs so that I won't forget my time in the beautiful Kendal!

I am an out going, approachable lady who has lived in the area most of my life. I enjoy travelling the UK as well as the rest of the world and have experienced many countries and their cultures. I am a trained Blue Badge Guide for Cumbria and have exceptional knowledge of Cumbria and the Lake District through which i regularly take guided groups out for tours to share my knowledge and educate people on this beautiful part of the world. I have a love for animals. George is the hostel cat (Ginger George) who lives in the hostel and is very relaxed and loves finding the warm spots. I also have a black Labrador called Masie who is always around me.
Me and my daughter have run the hostel since 2011 when the YHA decided to sell the property. We have a passion for our work and also wish every guest the best experience possible.
