You are welcome to (carefully) hike down the hillside. It is steep, but kind of fun. Our property goes all the way to the fence at the bottom of the hill. There is a rough trail behind our neighbor house to the right of the house (facing the house) that you can access by walking back of the studio/garage -- you’ll see it and they do not mind if we or our guests use it.
It’s also just fun to walk up the dirt road portion of Timbercreek Rd. It dead ends up the way about a mile. There may be barking dogs but we have never had any problems -- just holler at them.

Interaction with guests
We may be next door or away on our own travels, but we have help at hand if you need it. We'll leave complete information and emergency contact numbers! Expect us to send complete house and grounds info about a week before your stay. If you need it sooner, let me know through Airbnb.
Do be careful when you are out in the rocks or woods, for as with any Hill Country area there may be unsteady ground, steep drop offs and critters, like snakes, spiders and scorpions. We have never seen a poisonous snake in our yard area (but that does not mean they are not there...) Just take the caution you would in any rural area. IF you do have a medical emergency, the closest place to go is about 30 minutes away at the intersection of 1604 and Hausmann Road. back toward San Antonio -- Baptist Emergency Hospital. BUT I hope that isn’t needed!!
My across the street (in the mobile home) neighbor Rick Murray also knows the house and can be an emergency contact as well. His number is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). He is very good with all the animals in case you notice something wrong with one of them and can’t get in touch with us. He will be feeding and taking out the dogs and cat if we get in late.

I am an artist and with Linda, my partner, share a home and studio in the Texas Hill Country, and a small second home/studio in San Antonio. We love to travel, make art, and enjoy the pleasures, surprises and adventures life provides. We recently completed walking a stage of the Camino Santiago and spending a week in Barcelona -- with Airbnb stays in both Madrid and Barcelona! And this summer we travel and walk in Italy and Hungary, both with AirBNB stays!
I speak English and rudimentary basic Spanish (though I do teach in Spanish, it's a lot of point and show), and Linda is bilingual.
We are longtime residents of San Antonio and the Hill Country and can give our guests all kinds of suggestions for off-the-beaten track adventures, both in the city and out here in South Texas. I have also worked as a food writer and can provide suggestions for great meals in the region, from outdoor picnic table gourmet outings to fine Italian and French in San Antonio.
