"The Retreat" is a second-floor bedroom with king-sized bed, sitting area, and a private bathroom. It is located up a separate staircase, thus is relatively private although there is not a separate entrance to the house for this space.
Honeyberry Hill is a haven for travelers, situated just seven miles south of Ithaca, New York in gentle hills near Robert Treman State Park. Located midway between New York City and Niagara Falls in the Fingerlakes Region, the area is known for its colleges and its wines.
Guests are welcome to enjoy common areas downstairs, including the quiet room I call “The Library,” the living room, children’s playroom with piano, and dining area as well as the deck. Children must be supervised if enjoying the swings and treehouse. While there is a dorm-sized refrigerator for guests’ exclusive use as well as a Keurig coffee maker , the kitchen itself is reserved for the hosts. A full-sized refrigerator may be reserved by request (no additional charge). The barns are off-limits unless accompanied by the hosts.
Interaction with guests
I am retired and home full time, so I am available to help you as needed throughout your stay.
Other things to note
The Dining Area is centered in a sunroom adjacent to the spacious kitchen, with views overlooking the garden. A wrap-around deck offers additional seating in fine weather. While breakfast ranges from eggs from our chickens to waffles and blueberry pancakes, with your choice and hour determined beforehand, other offerings including homemade granola with local yogurt and homemade biscotti are available at any hour. Free Wifi but no television or air conditioning. The only indoor pet is a ShiZhu (dog with hair and not fur, so non-allergenic). I use nuts and wheat in preparing food. Note that all exterior entrances are covered by security cameras.

I am a newly-retired English teacher who loves to travel. I have lived in my home for nearly 40 years, although during that time I taught in Shanghai for seven years and I spent 15 consecutive years leading student trips to England, where I lived for two years as a student. Books selected for the library open to guests were chosen to appeal to travelers and include local authors as well as quick reads available for guests to borrow while staying here. My three children were born and raised in this home. One is now married with children, living in the DC area. One is an equine veterinarian, and the third is a plant researcher who lives nearby. I enjoy sharing the house with guests, sharing baked goods, and I enjoy sharing the Fingerlakes attractions with those new to the area.
