Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
This charming second story studio sanctuary is full of light and warmth with picture windows, a breakfast nook, a lovely patio and outdoor grill just below. Comfortable queen bed. Perfect location! with easy access to downtown within a few blocks and immediate access to roads leading to wilderness, skiing and hiking. Treehouse in summer, cozy nest in winter.

The space
The Colburn House is included in the National Registry of Historic Places. The old garage was converted into a carriage house apartment in 1991 and the studio ( one large well proportioned room) is located on the second story
( wide, easy staircase) a composition of wood floors, wool oriental carpets, an airy ceiling, and original art. Cozy, clean, authentically warm, we invite you to enjoy this space while you take advantage of the area's great outdoor recreation. You will have access to a coffee/tea (local, organic) morning set-up, a fridge for snacks, local beer, and a bottle of wine if you are coming for a special occasion. There is a microwave for warming and an outdoor grill for cooking. (Please note: there is not a stove-top available.) We do not have a TV in the space but the internet is good for streaming on your laptop. If you are planning a visit over the summer and early autumn the large, cedar fenced patio will be in bloom with buckets of flowers, quaint shaded nooks and full sun moments as well.

The first floor of the converted garage is a long term rental/apartment where a single, quiet, mindful friend lives. We ask for quiet hours after 10:00 pm and before 7:00 am. If you are arriving late or leaving early of course we understand, simply be aware of your sound levels. Much appreciation!
Welcome!

Guest access
The patio was recently cobblestoned by a local artisan, adding a lovely european dimension to the trees and flowers that fill the backyard of this historic brick home. During fair weather months, there are a variety of spaces to relax, read, have a glass of wine, or eat your freshly grilled buffalo steaks and trout from our local rivers with access to a grill. Come winter, the studio is a cozy space above the snow line. The studio is in a separate building from the main house and is self contained with its own private entrance off of the rear patio. You will have your own off street parking space just below the studio. There is one flight of stairs, plenty wide.

Other things to note
Please note the studio doesn't have a TV. Good internet though for your laptop. We expect folks will be out and about as the studio is centrally located to major ski areas such as Bridger Bowl, where the locals tend to go and Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin, a world renown destination ski resort known for some of the biggest skiing in America. Cross country skiing more of your thing? There are six cross country ski areas in the neighborhood plus plenty of trails, with more than 350 inches of snow a year. Nice! Fishing? Blue ribbon recreational fishing. Think of the film A River Runs Through It. The Gallatin, The Madison, The Yellowstone, The Missouri all within easy reach. Yellowstone National Park, the nation's first, is a 1.5 hour drive from Bozeman but the terrain is gorgeous. Hiking is abundant in this area and the mountain access plentiful in every direction. So much to see, so much to do. We think you may need to stay awhile!

Lives in Bozeman, Montana
Hello, I am a fourth generation Montana Native, born in Bozeman. I am a visual artist/photographer and wilderness lover. My father was a fishing guide and renowned naturalist in this area so I can show you some out of the way places that won't appear in your guidebooks, as well as some of the tucked away local hangs. Montana is known for her friendly folks. We fit the bill here at the Colburn House. Let us host you Montana style! Lively, friendly and spacious.
