Charlie is a beautifully equipped and cosy gypsy caravan nestled in our orchard alongside the disused railway line with views across the fields to the sea. The larger of the two wagons with a double bed and separate seating area.

The space

The caravans are located in our tranquil orchard of plum, pear and apple and apricot trees, if ripe you are welcome to help yourselves !!

Guest access

The two caravans have sole use of the large orchard accessed through the garden of Red House but fenced for your privacy.....why not come with friends and rent the two together ?....:)....

Interaction with guests

We have a busy household and run the cafe Tea, Toast and Post down in the Dock but one of us is usually around to answer any questions or help with anything that you may need....failing that we are only ever a phone call away ! And always happy to advise on where best to eat, drink and visit whilst with us ! :).....the live music of Bay usually a topic of discussion.....

A lovely quaint gypsy caravan, very clean and Sam Dora's her best to provide all you need, if it is a cloudy day the solar power does not work efficiently so be prepared to be in candle light. The bed is a climb into it so anyone with joint issues may find it harder to get in but we were fine, however the bed is a very small double so cosy and warm, we did take our own pillows. The bathroom is a brick out building the other side of the orchard so take flip flops to wear while showering and if you have a spider phobia this would make you freak as they were everywhere. The shower is warm temperature but took ages to wash my hair as it's not very powerful so it's more like a clamping experience, which we enjoyed for 2 nights.

We had a really nice weekend staying in Charlie. Sam and Luke were great at letting us know where we could find some live music on the night. The caravan and the surroundings are lovely very relaxing. It was a tough decision deciding whether we loved the caravan more or the lovely little cat that came to visit us in the orchard there. We did have a beeping battery issue one night and so used torches rather than having battery lighting but it wasn't a big deal we disconnected it and then it seemed ok again in the morning when we reconnected it again.

The caravan was gorgeously quaint, clean and had everything you really needed. The orchard with the swings and hammocks was also just lovely. Robin Hood's Bay is an ideal location and is close enough to both Whitby and Scarborough. Sam was friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for more.

We stayed both in 'Charlie' and the apartment when we extended our stay by one night. Sam was very helpful from the start and throughout our stay. The location is a short walk into Robin Hood's Bay and a minute away from a bus stop which was ideal as we don't drive. 'Charlie' was a very nice experience and the surroundings were very open and lovely. We were able to light a fire outside which was a great end to a long day. The one day we stayed in the apartment was very relaxing and good value for money. It was very spacious and relaxing with a nice kitchen to cook an evening meal as well as a big bathroom with a bath and sauna! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back again next summer.

A cosy gypsy caravan in a lovely, secluded spot in the orchard behind the house. Very quiet, with one other caravan in the same field and shared toilet/basic shower. The caravan had everything we needed for a short stay and it was an easy walk to the beautiful Robin Hood's Bay, with quaint pubs and restaurants. Friendly owners, great communication and a nice touch to have the breakfast hamper on arrival!

My boyfriend and I had the best stay in RHB with Sam in her lovely gypsy caravan Charlie. To arrive in the sunshine and be given a welcome basket of cheese, milk, bread, butter, eggs, and teabags was just a lovely surprise. And we got marshmallows for roasting on the little fire pit too! As no one else was staying in the other caravan, we had the good fortune of a whole garden to ourselves, and it's just beautiful. So serene, and nothing beats lying on the hammock in the sun. It was so nice to feel so carefree - we described it as a "sanctuary" to one another because that's what it felt like. Perhaps the only thing we would change is the spiders in the washroom - we didn't mind them too much, after all it is an outside room so they will wander in, but a couple of them were pretty massive! However no bother, just something to be wary of if you're not a fan. Besides, all part of the what was pretty much glamping experience! I've never felt more cosy than being in the caravan in the rain. So warm, with fairy lights in the bed section and a couple of candles, plus a gas hob to make a brew when needed - absolutely perfect. It's just 10 mins walk into town too, or 20 if you go along the old railway track, which is well worth it. Neither of us drive so we got the train to Scarborough and the X93 to Fylingthorpe - incredibly easy to access which is always welcome when you don't have a car. It's 2 mins from the bus stop. Overall will be singing the praises of this stay to family and friends for weeks - Sam is a fabulous host, with a place to stay that is just so special, and we feel incredibly lucky to have stayed for four nights. If you need to get away from the stresses of the real world and have a magical, unique stay in a quiet and happy seaside village, this is it. PS Tea, Toast and Post is excellent too - ideal place to pop to for breakfast once you get down to the Bay!
